So this is kindly strange
The other day I was fishing around on the 23andMe DNA testing website, looking at their DNA genealogy tests. I didn't create an account or give them any information.
Later that same day, I got an order confirmation for DNA test kits for myself and my wife, someone named Jackie. My wife is not named Jackie. The invoice that came in the email was sent to a person with my last name with whom I also share a first name. We have the same middle initial, but different middle names. My gmail address, that I've had since gmail first began, is my first two initials and my last name @gmail.com. This person used that email address to order his DNA test kits. I suspect his address may be very similar but with a period or underscore or something in there that mine doesn't use and he forgot. These people are Ontario CA. Thinking the mail might be a phish of some sort, I clicked a link at the bottom of the invoice to cancel the order. I was taken to their page and the cancellation was confirmed. A minute later I got a cancellation email confirming it. 23andMe has no phone support, so I sent them an email explaining the situation and told them I had cancelled the order. They mailed back apologizing and said they would contact my doppelganger directly and get a good email address from them. Just a few minutes ago I got another order confirmation from them, this time sent to his wife, Jackie, at my email address. She used a different credit card for this order. The invoice even shows the last 4 of the credit card. So I cancelled it again and sent another mail to 23andMe and said "this is sorta fun for me but I'll bet if you don't get this straightened out, you're going to lose a couple of customers, I plan to continue canceling their orders every time they come to my email and I'm unlikely to give you any business of my own if this is any indication of how you handle things".

They seem to be comparable to others and are more reasonably priced. Right now I'd wonder if they might send my results to the guy with my name in CA though. Or maybe they'll send me HIS.

That's a bummer. The partner, Jackie (could be a man as well, right?), is probably typing your doppelganger's email with a full stop instead of an underscore. Gmail ignores capitals and full stops/periods in email addresses. Someone could type out your email without the dots and you'd still get an email. You could always write an email to variants of your own name with underscores or different middle initials see what happens.

The Navy provides each of its members with a .mil email address. The usual format is firstname.lastname@navy.mil. Several solutions to the issue of having multiple people with the same first and last name exist, and are sometimes mixed. These include firstname.middleinitial.lastname and firstname.lastnamenumber. There's another guy in the Navy with the same first name, last name, and middle initial as me, and I've accidentally sent him quite a few of my outgoing messages while trying to cc myself. I haven't gotten anything obviously meant for him, yet.

A Ram is a sheep. You'd need to be a Bucks fan.

Be gentle with the lad. Remember he's a transplanted Islander. He's not used to our ways yet. He still drives around the "Valley of the Burn" looking for the shore line. "Hmm, I see lots of sand and palm trees, the ocean's gotta be around here somewhere!"
