Sounds complicated to me. There are some Iman's that come up with the rules to suit themselves, and if the people they are teaching can't read then how are they to know if the Iman is lying? |

Christians have the option of reading the Bible. The supernumerous translations available in pretty much every language means that unless someone can't read... they can read the Bible. (except if you're RC.. then you have the magisterium to worry about) The Qu'ran supposedly existed in Arabic... in Heaven. Meaning that if you aren't reading it in Arabic (classical Arabic at that), then you can't really read it. You are also dependent on the Hadith to understand it. And getting through only one collection of the Hadith (like Sahih al-Bukhari) is like reading only one book, every single night... for 6 months. And then you only have only the view of one collection (there are three main ones). Then you have Imams... and if you're Shia you have an Ayatollah, etc.
