More bizzar than that.

One of My Girlfriends went to Prison. When I was there to visit Her they had a lock down because one of the Inmates tried to escape.
The Inmate was in the section of the Prison where the Prisoners with HIV were kept segregated from the other Prisoners.
The Inmate tried to escape over the Roof and the Guards sent a Dog after Her. The Dog bit Her.
Due to Her having HIV and being bit and the bite drawing Her Blood the Dog was destroyed.
The Dog was considered a Prison Guard/Corrections Officer and along with the Escape attempt the Inmate was charged with the Death of a Officer.

That seems far fetched. (Sorry).

Man, that's awful!

But, I don't see how the charge of; "Death of an Officer," will stick - since death of an animal cannot be equated to the death of a human being. It doesn't work that way...

What's she in prison for, if you don't mind telling us?

Well, a couple of points -
Here in the Commonwealth, people have been charged with a felony for throwing soft drinks (legally defined as a missile), from one vehicle to another.
Also, in today's zero tolerance climate, a soda-pop bomb now falls into category of 'manufacturing an explosive device' - also a felony!

The fun part about making one of those things?

Knowing the right amount of seconds before the thing goes off before you should throw it.

Sorta' like knowing the right time to pull the egg out of the fire before it's a "hard-fried" egg in the shell. Too long in the flames....

Well, nobody had the balls to hold it and throw it..............

............but, it did make quite a bit of noise prior to the explosion where the plastic was getting severely stretched.

You could probably do it..........but, the damage in the event of failure to time it properly would be quite high. I do believe it would take your hand off.

What it takes to blow a hand off would be a great topic for Mythbusters.

Back in 1990, at the shop where I was working, things were kind-of slow one day. So my bored co-workers and I decided to drill a hole in the cap of a one-liter plastic soda bottle, then insert the nozzle of a blow-gun with the valve tied open. the bottle was placed in a large cardboard packing carton, with a long air hose that could be connected to the high-pressure air-line at a safe distance. After a couple attempts, the bottle refused to explode. So I made a few scratches on it with a screwdriver and tried it again.
The deafening explosion sent the manager running from his office!

Interestingly, there was no penetration or visible damage to the carton. But I don't think I'd have wanted my hand in there when it went off.
