I couldn't agree more. It is the "experience" of our current politicians in Washington that has gotten us in the mess we are in today. The system was NEVER designed with career politicians in mind. They were thinking along the lines of some folks doing their duty in the nations capitol rather than making a self serving career of stepping on innocent Americans. |

Maybe getting paid too much also, as the Obamas have cashed in pretty well over the past decade or so. Who would have thought that becoming president would boost one's autobiographical sketch, and another autobiographical sketch ... and you get the picture. When he leaves office, he will make a bundle on the talk and pep rally speech circuit. Capitalism and "Hope-and-Change" has sure been good to the Obamas.
■2000: $240,000 ■2001: $272,759 ■2002: $259,394 ■2003: $238,327 ■2004: $207,647 ■2005: $1,655,106 ■2006: $983,826 ■2007: $4,139,965 ■2008: $2,656,902 ■2009: $5,505,409 ■2010: $1,728,096 ■2011: $789,674 Total: $18,563,000 And, Obama made how much prior to politics ? A very nice gig indeed ! |

Who would have thought that becoming the leader of the world's most powerful country would lead to more money for speeches and appearances...??? Seriously? I guess I would be one of those people.... You make it seem as if this is some kind of Obama-spiracy... Bush Jr. has raked in over 15 million since leaving office (and I bet he is miles behind Slick Willy...) Even Sarah Palin (who was an also-ran VP candidate, in case anyone has forgotten) is rumored to have made over 12 million since her ill-fated run

Really? We're going to point at his income now? Considering that the top 15 highest paid corporate CEO's in this country range in ANNUAL compensation of 36 million at the lowest, to 96 million at the highest (Oracle's CEO)....I don't really see the income of the president of the country at less than 2 mil a year average as significant. Plenty of greedy small business owners across this land milk far beyond that out of their companies while cheating their employees. I am sure that is considered "good business practice" though. 2 million annual is still within the "upper middle class" in many locales.
As for the third term thing, obviously we can't do that, how would we bring in someone else to reverse any progress that has been made? This country has a long, LONG ways to go to achieve what many of the more advanced westernized countries have, that's for sure. This country displays traits of greed, selfishness, and immaturity. Its every man for himself, and better use guns to keep it that way.

Thanks folks for emphasizing the point I was making in post #66!
Today's politicians are in it to be millionaires. They don't GAS at all about you or me. They spend tax payers money by the trillions to advance THEMSELVES. They would pimp their Momma on a street corner for ONE single vote. Although I think many CEOs are overpaid, it's with their own companies money, NOT the money extorted from taxpayers. The idea of the founding fathers was for the politicians to do their duty with a minimum of compensation, NOT to become wealthy people off the back of the taxpayers. |

Does it get boring having to only find fault with one political party? You should really branch out and start disliking both parties, gives you so much more freedom of derision.... Just curious, why do so many repubs have such a thing for deliberately calling people by variations of their names that are not self-applied?? It seems really childish and makes the person doing it seem less-than-intelligent.

I don't think that republicans have exactly cornered the market on coming up with less than complementary names for politicians. That one is universal. CMB, are you sure that YOU are not showing some partisanship with this comment? Maybe you need to open your world up to some other forums to get a wider view of the partisanship on both sides. |
