Car Toons 1973

A buddy of mine who runs an antique store and happens to usually have some interesting cars around gave me an interesting magazine from 1973. Since a 116 Diesel is featured both as a cartoon and as a photograph I immediately thought of pp forum.

I particularly like the sketches of young ladies wearing period clothes. Most of the ones I saw in person back then were slightly more pedestrian in their proportions but still looked pretty good. The clothes are very typical of the times.

more pics. You gotta love that vw truck, and... The race car driver on the back looks like Graham Hill.

I don't know about anybody else, but I find it distressing to think of stuff from the 70s being "antique".
Cool scans anyhow!!

Is it just me, or does every generation of men think the way women looked when they (the men) were in their late teens, or early twenties always look hotter than women of other times?
Not that I view any women is such a objectifying manner.

I don't know about other generations, but the hippy girls on campus at AZ State University in Tempe during the 70s wore precious little in the way of clothing and NOTHING in the way of undergarments. They were healthy, tanned and open minded. That they left a lasting impression is an understatement.

The girls at Ball STate looked pretty good too. But I appreciate good looking women of all ages!

I seem to recall that Cartoons was inspired by the works of Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth who did some artwork for them in their early days.

I am not sure who the target market was for this publication. I would think that looking at the ads it contained would reveal the demo.

While there will never be a way to know for sure I am going to say the Mercedes pictured in both drawing and photo is a 109 6.3. The foglights and the fresh air vent lead me to think this.

Some guys standing 3" away from a beautiful woman wearing a very low cut minidress would look down the front of it and then comment on the patterns of the tiles on the floor she is standing on.

The above comment leads me to think of this.

That's funny! I think it's a W115, though... slip of the keyboard?

I'm no expert but it does look a lot like a 6.3...the cartoon of it surely has it jacked up....the kick in the rear door fender line is suspiciously like a Ford LTD though.....
