Opinons on good sheepskin covers

I've searched but there was very limited info on this topic.

So, I'd love to hear of anyone's opinions and/or experiences with varyious sheepskin seat covers.

I'm looking for something better than the run of the mill covers but not any of those insane $300/seat covers either.

Cheaper!

Check out L. L. Bean $75 each and they are pretty respecable, the main panels are real skin, if you don't like them just return them!

Howdy CK42,
If you have seats that you like the "fit" the sheepskins have some bulk to them and can change the feel of the seats.

I picked up a pair of them at Costco last weekend for the 300CD, he's in the body shop now so I haven't tried them yet. They were $30 each. Let you know more when I get them on.

I have heard that some of the sheepskin covers will ruin the leather underneath. I am assuming it has something to do with the backing that actually has contact with the leather. The good ones will not do this.

But the question is, why? Are you convinced you will never perspire in your car (entrapped odor)?

miniman:

Last time I ever had sheekskins, years ago, the problem with them was color fading and tearing isses. As cheap as they were, not THAT cheap, I never had a problem with odor.

I just want something that is made well and won't color fade.
I don't anticipate that they will get 'sweated on' too much.

Kuan, I'll order some lamb chops please !!! nice pic!

Hey, when I had a sheep skin cover on my MGB, it never had
odor issues, just fading and ultimately a tear.
But it lasted long enough to pay for itself.

I'm not in the market personally for a sheepskin cover, because I never have seen one that remotely complimented the interior of a vehicle. Comfortable, yes. Tacky, quite often. If someone finds a high quality, good looking brand, please post. Would be a good b-day present for my grandfather's Acura.

I’ve been putting sheepskins on my cars for years, although I haven’t put any on my Mercedes yet. I usually get them from a swapmeet or Costco and they typically last a couple of years. I first wanted to get them to keep from burning my butt on hot seats during the summer but also found them to be very cozy during the winter. I did find the electric seat heater mostly ineffective cause of the added insulation. I did smell a little “sheepy” if they got wet when they were new but that didn’t happen much here in sunny So Cal. They were put over leather seats and never had a compatibility problem. When they wore out I just couldn't bring myself to throwing them out, there were parts of them that were still in good shape so I cut the hooks, straps and back off and now use them for working under my car in the lap of luxury:p
