Wonder if each truck will come with a free empty bottle of beer in a random location. Gotta love drunken UAW fools.

The production shift from Mexico is part of the collective bargaining agreement Ford and the United Auto Workers negotiated in 2011. Ford’s (IW 1000/8) announcement today confirms the company is moving forward with the plan for Ohio Assembly Plant.

“We are extremely pleased that the dedicated, highly skilled and highly motivated UAW members of Ohio Assembly Plant have been selected to build the next-generation Ford F-650 and F-750,” said Jimmy Settles, UAW vice president and director of the National Ford Department.

Despite Rowe’s optimism, Carrier said layoffs are still a possibility in the future depending on volume and demand after the line becomes available for purchase in 2015.

“Any future layoffs are going to be predicated on volume and demand,” he said. “I’d like to say that there won’t be any future layoffs, but that’s really not being realistic. We’re just going to have to wait and see what happens as this truck line launches and we work toward bringing in future products.
