Round 3 for '02 F1 - Brazil GP

Well Boys, whadda ya think is going to be the outcome of the next race in Brazil?

I think we will overcome the DNF's that plagued us in Malaysia, but will the Boys at Illmor have something to sing about back in England? We need some Mojo Boys, and quick!

Unfortanetly I think Kimi will wax DC even though it pains me to see that happen. DC really does deserve a Championship, question is when?

Race is Sunday as usual.

Gooooooo Mercedes......... :p

Will it be on any local TV?
I need to find a sports bar where I can go watch it...

Holson Adi, the race will be on Speedchannel <www.speedtv.com> Sunday mid-day for us on the right-coast. Unfortunately no bars will be open at noon around me.

roas, McLauren has been so inconsistent who knows what will happen. But they practice well. I'd expect Williams to be strong again and Ferrari's '03 car to be stronger than last year's car. As long as it doesn't rain and there is no incidents it should be a very competitve race.

I hope Ferrari doesn't use their '03 chassis :-) I think you meant '02 chassis...I would like the 02 chassis to break and have Rubens finish ahead of the Red Baron.

As for our team, its all down to MBenz to raise their level. The chassis is good but when we're down 80hp then we have to run less wing and comprimise traction or everyone will blow us away down the two main straights in Brazil.

What we need to do is pray for rain because then HP doesn't matter but the handling of our car...then we have a chance.

I hear you about DC but I think he'd had enough chances to shine. F1 is such a tough sport...either your a winner or your not but still I would love DC to get a championship. I remember when Mclaren wasn't all that...you couldn't tell the difference between Mika and DC...and lets not forget DC got MBenz its first win with Mclaren!

So men...i say we pray for rain! :-)

-Ren

PS as always....go Mclaren go!

I don't really see McLaren winning this race, it'll probably be Montoya or Micheal coming out on top come Sunday. The Illmor/Mercedes engine has looked simply second rate this season so far. It's weak and unreliable, and McLaren won't be able to cover it up with a superior chasis.

I think that McLaren is getting a bit tired of DC's performance. He's been driving top notch cars for every year he's been in F1 from '94 to '02 with the exception of '97, and he's never been really close to winning the championship. Great driver's can win races in lousy cars like Senna with Lotus or Schumacher with Ferrari in '96. DC has problems winning races in great cars. My bold prediction for DC is that he will never win a driver's championship in F1. But I hope I'm wrong.

BTW Mika give McLaren there first win since '93 at the last race of the '97 season when DC let him through to first place (under team orders).

Mr.W123,

I would suggest you look at the first race in 1997 and you will note that DC won that race. It was the Australian GP in Melbourne. He also won Monza that year...nearly lost it going through the chicane I think....but recovered and won.

It was a great beause Marlboro dropped McLaren in favor of Ferrari and the Red Baron. So McLaren signed with West and boom they win the first race! So much the partnership since the 70s.

Brazilian GP update: DC tops the 2nd practice times and ups the Red Baron's time by 0.5 sec. I would still preach all faithful followers to pray for rain. Its our best bet!

Well DC really changed my view in practice today, he is at the top of the leader board! They say he is good at this track but this is really something.

Way to go DC, lets see what Qualifing brings tomorrow. :p

After watching the qualifying race today, I just hope McLaren/Mercedes team will work out reducing the down force on the cars by tomorrow. I think the Williams have a real good shot at this race given they have the strongest car. And look at that straight away. Like you guys said, the only chance the McLaren will have a chance is if it rains tomorrow.

Should be a good race, Montoya is on Pole and Shuey is in the 2nd slot. Let's see what happens on the first lap.

Seems like the practice sessions are a not a accurate reflection of real speed with Williams and Ferrari pulling way lower times than in practice. Does it really matter, after all you are going to go full out in qualifing anyway?

McLarens only chance (as usual this season) is with attrition.

Turn one is a 110 degree left hander under hard braking from 190 down to about 60. I think they'll approach it at around 100 from the start though, maybe Michael will walk around and make a pact with the drivers to not pass on the first turn just like he did in Italy.

McNish is doing awesome isn't he? From Sports cars to F1, what a driver! I think there's a future for him in F1.

The race has ended and Schuey has won followed by his brother Ralf in the Williams and then DC in the McLaren.

Attrition has put DC on the podium into 3rd.

Boy, if Montoya would just use his brain he would be winning these races back to back, when will he learn that there is such a word as TEMPO!

Salo into the points at 6th position! Very good for Toyota this being the first year they are racing, building, and developing the WHOLE car and engine from scratch, way to go Toyota.

I agree Kuan, I find myself rooting to McNish seeing him come up from Sports Car racing. I think he is going to do very well, I hope!

OK, who really believes that Barrichello had a hydraulic failure? Or was it a case of running out of gas???

And what about Kimi with the rear suspension failure, McLaren that is on you.

Did you see the rear wheel just caved in right before the rear suspension failed on Kimi's car?

Barricello definitely had a case of empyt gas tank. Ferrari was too proud to admit their engineer miscalculated the fule consumption.

Ralph was 56 seconds ahead of DC, not a prayer for the McLaren. Now lets hope they do better in two weeks. Renault is only a few points behind. Pressure is on for the McLaren/Mercedes, can you imagine losing F-1 to Renault?

It was dissapointing race, another win for damn Schumacher. Montoya would have not lost his front wing if good ole Schuey didn't block him. It's good to see Salo back in F1 and doing well with Toyota. One Mika is better then none . Toyota is one serious company so you know their car will only get better unlike Jaguar. It must be that German engineering!

I must of been thinking of Mika's first win.
