I thought the bottle jack looked deeply corroded...
If the rust around the base of the cylinder is beyond the surface, I wouldn't want to trust it with anything heavy. But it could be useful as the force for a press.
If it could be made to hold pressure safely, I agree that as an old jack, it will be more jack for less money than a new one

Hit that thing with a wire wheel and let's see what it looks like.
It may be that all the rust on the weld and fluid channel are just cosmetic.

The rust on the bottle jack appears to be a non issue......it wouldn't be a big deal to rebuild....probably easier than the trolly jack.

That type trolley jack get moisture down the shaft of the pressure release knob and corrode internally and usually seize/leak.

Like I said, parts can be an issue...especially Chinese throw aways.

I'd go to some estate auctions...they basically give those kinds of things away pennies on the dollar.....may find some quality tools too.

I think they're both old. The bottle jack is probably older -- its label was painted on. The floor jack had stick-on labels, but they are worn out.

Neither jack has anything beyond surface rust. I was thinking I'd start with the bottle jack, so I'll take it to bits sometime... maybe next Monday.
