I don't want a Smart car simply because it is small. I like to be able to stretch out and even lay the back down and relax when I have some down time. Often, my car serves as a work vehicle and I need space to be able to put crap in.

Is that a W140? I wish the W140 was sold in the US with a OM606. I can't get excited about a V8 and a V12 sounds like fun in a painful sort of way. The newer S-class is about a half-ton lighter but still not out of the question.

Not quite a w140 - it's a Ford Taurus SHO.

I'm considering the next Miata, reputed to be 2,250 lb. I'm not a fearful little kathoey

What they didn't tell you is that the G forces on the Smarts passangers were much higher than in the larger S.

Next I want to see a Smart vs F450.

In an accident mass is a good thing to have on your side!

If you haven't figured out how to drop the top on a Miata and have all manner of excellent "adult" times on one or more Route 66 spurs, you ain't done exploring your options my friend.

Wife isn't a fan of the top off the vette. She'd rather have ac on. Also I don't have time for a mistress and come to think of it, I'm kinda fond of ac myself.

It's YOUR life. When some drunk in an SUV or lifted pickup truck (and those things are EVERYWHERE these days) Hits you hard in your tiny little car and puts you in a wheelchair for life, YOU indeed will have the last laugh;

Thinking about all the gasoline you saved driving that little bitty car will make you feel superior and noble, for being able to rise above the laws of physics.

Go for it!

Got it.

I'd rather you spend it on hookers and blow Much more enjoyable than flowers.

But in all seriousness, I bicycle. A lot, recently, probably more time spent on a bike than in a car. I'm probably taking a larger risk on two wheels than any manner of four wheels.

Exclamation bicycles v. pedestrians

Twice - over the years - I have been mowed down by reckless cyclists while walking on a SIDEWALK in San Francisco. It really hurts to get hit by one of them at speed.

Not long ago one of them blew a red light at Castro and Market in the City and killed a pedestrian walking across the street. He was prosecuted for that.
