I was expecting the smart to be shoved backwards at the very least. A whole lot of the energy went into the crumple zones - quite impressive - so long as both cars have those zones!

Each vehicle was travelling at 50km/h - 30 mph - serious damage ensues at these "low speeds"

I never was seriously interested in an S-class until a pickup hit me head on while I was sitting at a stop sign. Now I might actually buy a big car. Defensive driving isn't enough anymore. You have been warned.

My next car will be smaller. Why? Because screw what the worry-warts and safety-nancies think.

Screw this, fawk that isn't really a logical reason. More like talking tough. OTOH, if there was some science behind it, fair enough.

My current car hits the scales at 4,400 lb., and that's just fine with me. Too many F-250's running around to futz around with something so stupid as a Smart.

I don't want a Smart car simply because it is small. I like to be able to stretch out and even lay the back down and relax when I have some down time. Often, my car serves as a work vehicle and I need space to be able to put crap in.

If you haven't figured out how to drop the top on a Miata and have all manner of excellent "adult" times on one or more Route 66 spurs, you ain't done exploring your options my friend.

Is that a W140? I wish the W140 was sold in the US with a OM606. I can't get excited about a V8 and a V12 sounds like fun in a painful sort of way. The newer S-class is about a half-ton lighter but still not out of the question.

Not quite a w140 - it's a Ford Taurus SHO.

I'm considering the next Miata, reputed to be 2,250 lb. I'm not a fearful little kathoey

Are you trying to convince us, yourself or both of that?
