Bernie Ecclestone trial dropped by German court after £60m payment is accepted - People - News - The Independent

Reportedly, the McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari groups were hoping that Bernie's tenure as F1 head would end.

In Germany, you can pay your way out of criminal charges. In the US, only corporations can do that.

what i find especially ironic, is the guy he bribed is serving 8 years in jail for taking the bribe. here he is bribing the court to forget about it when guilt has already been establised on one end. interesting legal system loophole.

Its sort of a victim-less crime and the government now has like 70 million euros to misappropriate. Win for Bernie, win for Germany, big lose for the guy who took the bribe.
