What Would You Drive?

Heading into Smugglers Notch State Park, VT . . . what would be your motoring choice? Cabrio or cycle for sure, doesn't have to be fast . . . I'd probably go with a big Austin Healy or R80 BMW.

Most likely going to look more like this and be in the 30's-40's through next week. I'd go coupe or sedan.

Then it begs the question . . . why go the 18 miles? Because it's there.

I love that BMW S bike. It really looks (and performs) like someone at BMW was in a bar, lost a bet and was dared to build a world-beating superbike.
...so he/she went back to the office and did just that.

Whats the German word for "dare"
/threadjack

An Airhead would be nice, but slow. That S1000 would be nice, but it'd be a handful (I'm not that good a rider).

BMW Z4 or Z8 - lower stress, bring the wife...still smiles.

That tree canopy would create such a nice reverb of a lazy V8 exhaust burble. I say 1968 427 Corvette convertible:

Hey, no need to justify it to me. I never need an excuse to go for drive!

I would ride my F650GS. Comfy, easy to ride, quiet. Nice to enjoy the scenery.

I guess if I were forced to take something with 4 wheels, this would suffice:

Are you sure you didn't mean '67? With sidepipes?

Do I have to ride/drive my choice all the way there from here? I was going to go with my motorcycle, DR650, but I'm not sure I have enough vacation time left this year to set off on a back road, cross country, motorcycle trip. Besides, one I got there, I know I'd have to do some exploring.

BTDT on my '91 XLH 1200. Left Bethel ME, rode thru Dixville Notch up into Canada. Lunch in Magog. Crossed back at North Troy VT heading to St. Albans for the night. Motor started making a helluva knocking noise but no loss of power. Doubled back & went around to Plattsburg. Spent the night there and got back on the road after a quick repair at North End HD. Rode out to Lake Placid, then down thru the hills to the Thruway....and on down to High Point NJ. The best day of a week on the road in July, 1996.

edit....and the only day beside the first one heading north I didn't need to wear leathers.
