Caught a Coyote Puppy Today!¡

Howdy All,
I was out running my dog(her name is Chime) Today. I was following in the Jeep while she hunted. She stopped to check out te smells on some bushes and I drove on. I was a couple hundred yards away when I stopped to wait for her. When I looked back she was in the same place dancing around like she was playing with something . First thought was she had a snake cornered. As I got closer I could see ths little furball moving around and I thought it was a wild dog so I went over to rescue it from Chime(all she wanted to do was play, try telling that to the little guy). The furball went into a pipe. About six feet from the end where he went in there was a hole, so when furball was in sight I grabed him(he screamed at me and showed his fangs(he fit in my hand and I guess he was less than 5 weeks old). Then I noticed Chime had moved off and when I saw her she was about ten feet from an adult coyote which was about fifty feet from me. Well Chime and coyote danced around and sort of drifted away. Then coyote took off(mistake) and had about a twenty foot lead when Chime took off after it. Chime closed in fast and was at the end of coyote's tail when it stopped and chased her off. By this time a friend joined to watch and then from behind us we heard some yipping. Turned around and there was #2 coyote. Well number 1&2 got tgether and we had a standoff. After a couple minutes of watching them it was time to leave so I put furball down and he went back into the pipe and we drove away. Coyotes got together and had a happy reunion That closed out a week where earlier in the week I rescued a Gopher snake at one of the company buildings. Just another normal week in the big city of El Mirage, Cal.

Wow, very interesting story.

My dogs would have probably chased that coyote down and had a major stand off.

They don't like other animals much.

Hey Frank-

Thanks for the story!

I live in Central Oregon within a few walking minutes to the National Forest. I see all sorts of animals from Coyotes to Bald Eagles. The coyotes often howl just outside my back door. My girlfriend is an avid runner and often runs for an hour or more in the forest. This kind of freaks me out since we have cougar as well!

Thanks again Frank!

Howdy All,
Glad you guys liked my little adventure
Bear, I'll take Saint Frank since my uncle already has Saint Francis
Alon; Chime will be starting to run in competion this year so she has to be able to work with other dogs. So I'm glad she is a sociable dog. Just about everything is her buddy, except rabbits, cats & birds

My dogs don't mind other dogs, but they get very territorial.
