Which forum?

Which forum would be the appropriate one to ask about an electrical short that is draining the battery in a '92 300D? I have the short isolated to the circuit fused by fuse 9, but don't know what to do next.

Thanks!

Since the question is not diesel specific, Tech Help, at the top of the forum is your best bet.

Well, it is a German car and it is possible that the problem is caused by Germans who are unhappy at losing the war and trying to inconvenience you so maybe Politics and Religion?

Have you tried getting a hold of a wiring diagram to see which systems are hooked up to fuse 9? You might have to disconnect one device at a time and check for drain but you don't what to disconnect till you get the diagram

Sorry but back to your proper basic question especially being new to the forums.
A big welcome to the forums.

Your MB is a D, those in the diesel forum will have the most experience with ANY thing to do with a D. Most with gassers go to the tech forum.

Is there a fuse diagram inside the cover for your fuses?

Hey Dieter welcome aboard. I have the same car and same problem and everything you said about the diagnosis is correct with regards to fuse#9, etc.

I recently asked the parts guy I use at the local MB dealer about the problem. He is very sharp and I respective his judgement without question. He's been around awhile and knows these cars. Anyway, he said it is a known issue for these cars that has gone unreported and basically the solution is to take out the old radio and get a new one. He said the radios on the W124 diesels go bad. I haven't removed mine yet to solve the problem, but will be soon and am confident it will solve the problem.
