Blackberry Android? Why?

Exclusive: BlackBerry may put Android system on new device: sources | Reuters

I thought that the sole sell point for "crackberry" was that their message servers were relatively secure, but running Android seems to be the antithesis of that.

Interesting story from a book "Losing the Signal"" about RIM and Blackberry was that when they took the first iPhone apart, they were convinced it would fail and cause cellular data networks to crash. It was a severe miscalculation of how quickly networks would advance capacity and bandwidth.
