I thought you were talking about smart features that were on cars from the past.

I was driving a 1950's Hudson, or at least that's what I think it was since this was about 50 years ago, and it had what was called a 'hill-holder' that allowed you to stop on a hill and then, when you started up again, you would not roll backwards.

Pretty advanced stuff for back then.

I had a brand new toyrota pickup that couldn't hold a hill with the auto trans at idle in drive. Forward!

Yes, messed up this morning, The "from" should have been "for."

Some of the old features I miss in modern cars are wing vent windows, fold down windscreens, bench front seats, front door sills you can actually put your elbow out on.

My father once owned a '68 Cadillac Fleetwood with eight power vent windows. From a ventilation perspective that car was the cat's ass...

It also had a cruise control system which used a round dial marked with speed increments to set and modify road speed (see upper left illustration):

My euro w123 wagon lets you put the windows up or down without a key in the ignition if the driver door is open. Initially I thought it was for safety reasons. I've used it a ton as I always forget to check if the rear windows are down so I've begun to wonder if that's what it's for.

Wow, mine doesn't have either!

It has the crank wiper and no steering wheel lock cuz the key is set in the dash!

Is the electric washer factory or add-on? Never seen any regular small or mid-size Mercedes before the mid '70s with a factory electric washer-pump. I've had a Ponton, two Fintails and three early '70s W114-115. All those came with rubber bulb foot-pumps on the floor. I converted one of my W114s to an electric pump.
All my cars did have steering-locks.
A friend owns a 1937 German DKW cabrio with transverse engine, FWD and a 6-volt electric radiator-fan.
That fan definitely looks like a vintage accessory. Though I'm not certain it's factory.
This DKW also has a unique feature called a 'dynastart'. The generator/starter is a combined unit built into the flywheel. When you hit the starter-button, the engine just spins quietly until it fires, with no starter sound!

Happy Motoring, Mark

A wonder how many parents would want that on their teen driver cars.

I was part of a test project that used an ODBII device to monitor driving. Honestly, the feedback did make me a safer operator of a vehicle. Smoother stop and acceleration, consistent cornering habits. It does work.

I'm, but not quite that old. But that being said I have driven such cars. It's a full time job with one of those adjustments. And you also have to set them to start and then run around, after you crank it, and adjust them to keep the thing running.

It was a real adventure but it beat walking.

My dad owned a 1950's MG sedan with built in electric jacks operated by switches in the glow compartment.

Ooops, looks like they were hydraulic, not electric.
