Can you remember your first job on your Mercedes?

The very first job I undertook on my own was to replace the headlights. This was quickly followed by my first brush with that old mercedes favourite, fault finding the vacuum system.Of course the two were related being a mercedes virgin DIY'er I didn't realise that the hoses on the headlight adjusters came off so easily!!
Luckily I'm from the school of thought that say's if one person can originally put it together, then I must be able to take it apart and put it back together again. So back to my question do you remember your first dip in the pool of Mercedes maintenance?

First project was an oil and filter change. This was followed by replacing the injector fuel return lines. I also replaced the valve cover gasket to fix a leak there. That unfortunately only changed the area where the oil was leaking from.

Several of us all played a part in the compression test at the Texas shindig, and I'm still trying to find the needed free time to replace the valve stem seals in the slim chance that it'll make a difference on my oil consumption.

Howdy All,
No I can't remember, but it was one of the following. Changed the driverside headlight bulb, changed the oil in the oilbath airfilter or changed the engine oil.

I applied leather cleaner to the seats on one of the first days we had the car.

The first "real" repair was a new alternator, but a shop did that.

My first "repair" on the car was when I was changing the fuel pump, I think.

changing the plugs because of a failed emissions test! first challenge was to find copper Bosch's - easy enough after i went to my last resort of checking with the dealer. then confronting the M104, i realized that it wasn't a no brainer as i thought it might be. fortunately, Gillybenztech gave me step by step instructions, including what sizes the nuts and bolts are and what to look out for! i was done in a half hour and passed emissions with flying colors!!!

rust repair/1967 230

The first job for me involved lots of sanding, fiberglass and bondo on my 1967 230. That was back in 1980. Then, I borrowed a compressor from a friend and painted the whole car. It looked great when I got done, but unfortunately I had to sell the car because I needed the cash.

The OVP on my W124...pretty modest job, but was proud of solving the annoying "hot start" problem...

Thermostat....

...followed closely by the monovalve. Bought the car from a guy in Fort Lauderdale, wife flew down and drove back 2 days before Christmas. No heat, and engine would not come up to temp with outside temp at 45F. I drove it 100 miles round trip at 9F to pay dealer twice FastLane price for thermostat, old one came out in pieces. Still no heat, and I was able to correctly diagnose and repair monovalve thanks to this forum. First attempt at any car work in 30 years. Many more successes in the past few months, all thanks to this site!!

Headlights

One side had the lo beam out, the other had the high beam. When I turned the high beams on and off it looked like a police car. I stopped at my local car parts store and bough two for about $12 a piece. It was my first Mercedes so I was prepared for the price but when I was browsing through Walmat I saw the same thing two for $8

Next was disconnecting the door buzzer. I totaled a car once and when I opened the door the last electron out of the broken battery went into the buzzer cause I left the keyes in the ignition Never did like buzzers after that
