Going to need a LOT of compound to buff that out.

and . . . you need one bourbon, one scotch, one beer . . the George Thorogood prescription.

You're gonna need more than that. How bad is the mechanical damage? Able to get it shut down in time? Didn't ingest any of the case bits hopefully...

Unsure at the moment.

Ordered a new clutch cover, gasket, oil, and filter. As soon as it all gets here, we'll find out.

I just see an oil spot, not a wrecked bike. Probably for the best, but am I wrong?

It took me a minute to see it but there is some blue paint on the gearbox cover. Looks like he laid it down. The visual damage doesn't look too bad in the picture.

Yeah, I remember laying down my 50cc Suzuki TrailHopper back in 1972. I wanted a beer as well.

Other than the mirror, how's the rest of your top piece? I imagine that lower cover isn't cheap to replace. Are you going to replace it or have that edge repaired? Looks like your front fender & forks are ok. Did the fork hit anything?

Low side drop? No big deal. You go down. Gravity assisted. Hope you got your leg out of the way.

When a bike is 'dumped', or 'laid down', it falls DOWN, gravity assisted, all the way to the ground and ends up on its side. At slow speeds this usually results in little or no damage to the bike or the rider. Even at higher speeds, given that the rider is wearing appropriate protective clothing, most damage is restricted to the bike. In either case, these are known as doing a lowside - meaning that the rider exits the bike by going in the direction of the fall: down.....
All Things (Safety Oriented) Motorcycle - 001: Highside Dynamics

I've had a few low side drops. Who hasn't?

If you love something, let it go...

If it comes back to you,

You've high-sided!

Where did the oil come from?

Look closer. As mentioned, the oil spot had to come from somewhere.

My money is on the oil coming from the gaping hole in the clutch cover/engine case.
