What is a droop-nose C-class wagon? Which platform?

Guess it must have been one of these. Is it a c class or e?

Looks like an E. I don't think they've sold a C-class wagon here since the W203, which ran until 2006 or 2007.

Whatever I saw was very sleek looking with a dramatically low front and high rear.

Maybe a GLE? The cls shooting brake would fit that description but they also didn't sell them here.

To answer the question in the OP, I've been dying to try the Alfa 4c out, particularly the convertible. I think it'd be a great replacement for the Saturn once that car has doubled its mileage. The new fiat 124 seems pretty promising too.
