Virtual Reality Goggles

Any users here? My daughter gave me a Samsung Gear VR set for Christmas that I've been screwing around with. Pretty cool invention!

Amongst the many gifts the wife received. A wireless photo printer for her cellphone was one.

As I examined it I thought some company has too much time on their hands. This device is palm sized and prints out pictures in color in a small fixed size. Maybe 1 1/2 by 3 inches? Since the prints emerge warm it uses some form of thermal process. On a reasonable thickness of base stock.

There must be quite a powerful rechargeable battery in there.

We send the grandsons far away money each year. Out of curiosity I asked the wife what we got the local grandson this morning. The wife asked me if I had seen his new super fast gaming computer.

If you saw it is the one with two monitors. Plus an enclosure that looks like a microwave oven with lightly smoked clear panels. Some perforated. I asked what the second monitor was for.

Only to be told one monitor provides constant readouts about how the unit is operating. Apparently she had another grandson build it for him.

Out of curiosity and my electronic background I went up the road to have a look at it. It seems very well built and there are all kinds of led lights on the processing unit. You could not fit those components in a normal tower I believe either. Cost I have no ideal and will not be asking.

Going by the size of the cooling fan I saw and the operational temperature readout it probably sucks some power at times. This makes two grandsons heavily into the computer business. One in Seatle with Microsoft and the second involved with some form of sub contract work with another major company.

This is the one that built the gaming computer for the 13 year old grandson. To me he seems somewhat introverted but my son in laws tell me he is brilliant in his field.

I never tried the vitual reality units but have heard how people actually reach for things discussed in their conversations. Kind of a natural reflex action I suspect. Must be quite an experience to draw you in to that level.

Funny you should bring that up. In one of the experiences I had today, I was riding a car on a track through some caves. Bats came out at me, and I instinctively brought my hands up to protect my face. It was a weird feeling, one that had my heart racing.

As for the wireless printer...most smart phones have the ability to print on network printers. I print photos and documents from my phone to my network printers often at home.

Barry not trying to get off on a tangent but look at NVDA stock for the past three months. They make the chips that drive the games.

You can get the visual stimulation and sensation of skydiving, without leaving the ground. It's an amzing experience.

I never would have bought these for myself, as I thought them to be a waste of money. Since my daughter got them for free with her phone, technically speaking, she didn't pay for them either. I'm just digging on a number of the things you can do with them, and the places you can go...all from the comfort of your own home.

Well when going down to feed the daughters dogs and let them out on new years eve. They were staying at a motel in another city after a party.

I noticed there was a set of those goggles on their counter. So I will be giving them a try soon enough.

They're fun. Make sure you're sitting down when you first use them as they can be a bit disorienting.
