First time Mercedes 190E Evo II auctioned in the U.S

Hello Everyone - during the most recent RM Auction in Arizona, a Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II went on sale for the very first time in the US, bringing in $220,000 USD. While many of us agree that this is a true gem within the MB world, this example with just 3,267 miles did command a price-tag that people did not expect. Was this an indication of just how sought after this model is or was it simply a case of wanting the first one every to be sold?

Let us know your thoughts below - either way, I think we can all agree at just how beautiful this example is.

The cotter pins are just to keep the big nut from unwinding.

I don't think it is the prettiest vehicle with all that body cladding. It looks a teenager's car.

One of these sold in the UK about two years ago for $150,000 US.

One of these was offered on Ebay for $700,000 or so about two years ago. I think it finally went for something less than $200,000.

So apparently this is what the going rate is for these cars. There were only 500 built so it is almost in the work of art class.
