Well, I generally feel the same as you, but I don’t think it was presented like a video game. It had some computer animation, but as far as the video presentation, I don’t think it disrespected the time and situation. I think the wrinkled uniforms did more to disrespect those fine military men than the animation. Please let me know you’re take on it.

I was unable to watch all of dunkirk. Very disappointing. It is a weird story....huge defeat but amazing evacuation.

Fuel efficiency improvements, and anti-lock brakes.

The Canadian army was involved with Dunkirk. I do not know what the real original plan was or the amount of intelligence that was available.

They attacked a fairly strong point. The Germans did not seem to have a large amount of difficulty dealing with it.

Germany knew or strongly suspected they had lost the war as early as 1942. The Russians had crippled them plus they had few oil reserves. Yet surrender was impossible. With most the combatants dead now an accurate unbiased account should be written.

I have not seen Dunkirk. After reading this here, I’m not sure if I want to.

At the risk of over-simplifying I contend that ABS has been the most valuable advance in automotive technology. The systems that have evolved from ABS are taken for granted if even recognized...….

VW Beetles.

The Japanese set out to beat this car. VW had a bit of innovation yearly. But the japanese really jumped into developing major innovation & eventually surpassed them, I think Datsun (Nissan) first. {What part did Nippon Sanrio play in Manchukuo? haha!}

VW had annual innovation? Can you be more specific?

It is super broad but has to be computerization of everything from fuel injection to airbags and structural design. If I had to narrow it down, I would say safety (more specifically SRS devices). I think direct injection and turbocharging are also huge advances, but neither would have been possible without advanced electronic measurement and processing.

Direct injection and turbo charging were used in WW2. I would agree with computerization. I remember the early 80's. Performance was dead. The late 80's brought electronic fuel injection to the US. The problem was, that HP levels were set and not much in the way of improvement. Well, maybe the Calloway Corvettes. Then came the Buick GN. Sort of a blip on the radar. Then some began to hack and tune the fuel injection systems. Look now in the past 5 to 10 years, the HP explosion. Some of them over 400 hp and 26-30 MPG, and in Trucks too. Would you have believed a Full Sized Pickup getting 27 MPG in the 80's?
