Re: Performance Products and shifter knobs

I'm guessing I missed it? Or maybe they don't have anything like that available for a W123 (that's what I looked under)...what heading was it under?

Thanks!

Its there, like the txbill says performance products is actaully three companies that have joined forces in the past year or two, and so they have a second website that has all this other stuff that is mercedes specific. For the W124 there are actaully two types of adapters depending on the year. Alons' is the post 90 adapter and mine is the pre 90 adapter, different part numbers.

Here is the info I got for the W123

SK-33123 - MERCEDES ADAPTER SHFT 116,123,107(72-85) (14521) SHAFT(ADAPTER)CHROME-ANGLED SHAFT 116,123,107(72-85)
(14543) SHAFT(ADAPTER)CHROME-ANGLED SHAFT 116,123,107(72-85)
(15262) FITS EARLY 107(->85) AND ALL 116, 123

The first number is the part number....call them up if you don't have a catalog

Cool

Thanks to both Bill and yal. A catalog's on it's way (unfortunately, although they have Ford stuff, they don't "yet" have a catalog for my pickup). According to the E-mail, it shuld be here in 3 weeks or so...and I didn't realize the online part wasn't comprehensive.

I'll try looking up the part number on the website too...

What's up with their catalog? I've requested a catalog two months ago, no show. So, I requested another one... still more than a month..

The shift adapter wasn't in their print catalog either. I actuallyc alled them ont he phone and went there in person. the momo knobs are int he porsche catalog, as its really meant for a porsche.

There are things they dont have in print or on the web. so its always best to call if you can't find it.

Alon,

I have ordered a Momo (fake, "c-f look") knob; I will have it laminated with real c-f by Thomas Queen.

Can you e-mail me a close-up picture of the shaft adapter/your installation, please? My adapter kit will not arrive
until MON 19MAY03, and I need to prepare for my installation, early next week.

Are Momo knobs universally threaded or do they have to be glued onto the shifter shaft?

I ask because if I cut off ANY of the top of my new (W210/W202 adapter) shaft, won't doing so remove any/all existing threading?

Did you cut 1/2" off the TOP (knob-side) of the new shaft, then have it re-threaded - or what, exactly, is the scoop?

Also (last question... honest!) - what is the vertical dimension of your Momo knob, please (in inches)?

RSVP / Thanks,

If I buy the adapter shaft, can I then use those new MB shift knobs on the shaft?

I like a lot of the newer shift knobs better than my all Zebrano shift knob.

I wanna get a leather one w/ the Mercedes logo.

That looks sweet!

So basically any shift knob from a new Benz would fit on this adapter shaft?

Maybe I should get a Brabus one
hehehe

I wanna get the steering wheel too. However I've seen them for $400!!

I got the steering wheel from www.************************ They sell them for $599.00. I bought mine with the 15% discount coupon that they offer from time to time throughout the year.

Eris Car Designs in Germany sells the exact same wheels for $400 and change. They offer many different styles of leather and wood wheels, in both zebrano and burl wood, but there are more styles available in burl wood, and they are a little more expensive.
