NO TOILET PAPER/BUTTER/EGGS

We have not been too anxious about the COVID-19 event so I made my usual bi-weekly pilgrimage to the big box store about 25mi from here. What I found was cleaned out shelfs of most non-perishable foods/butter/eggs, etc and no toilet paper whatsoever. I guess if one is there when they put it out you could get some.

I wondered about the toilet paper craze. Then it came to mind. If you had ever run out of it in the past. It might have fixated the event in peoples minds.

Our household never ever did get down to even the last roll.

Go to the country grocery stores. My local store has everything. At least until payday.

Does anyone remember when Johnny Carson joked about a toilet paper shortage, and caused panic buying?

Have a friend who works for a warehouse store and told me that a family of 4 came through her line and bought $1600 worth of food, mostly perishable. Could have sent for other people as we but likely just them boarding. I do t get it.

My thought is the hording is based on the idea to get it now to avoid the necessity of traversing the jungle later when infectious peeps and surfaces are everywhere. USA has no real shortage of food Nor TP, just hoarding based supply chain interruptions.

If enough people do it it could impact the supply volume. My warehouse is down by 50% or more of our normal inventory levels.

Eventually people will have purchased enough TP for their assumed needs. I guess if one knew when more was arriving you could be there when they stocked it.
I remember the chant that would go around when snow would close down the town at out last location-
"Bread, Milk, Toilet Paper!"

I am so glad I bought a Trader Joes's jumbo pack of TP just before all of this took off. It'll be available soon enough. And I have a homemade bidet that works just fine. Can't use that to blow my nose with however. Thank God for the farmer flush! Aka the farner blow.

I'm glad I stocked up on TJ's Irish grass fed butter. Have 5 packs. Bought 24 eggs at Costco a few days ago.

Post Just Remember :

When a crowd get scared enough bad things can occur .

I had to hit two stores to find onions to - day, the Vons only had three left, I took the two good ones .

Some people actually enjoy being afraid, sounds goofy but there it is .

There's alot of unfounded nonsense circulating that onions prevent viruses. They certainly help with the social distancing aspect.

Not going to improve anytime soon. The reason for for the TP and essentials panic is simple. If you are confined to your home for a month what are you going to do without essentials? It's easy to say use something else. Thats just stupid. If you have a family especailly with younger kids you can't just pretend you can use leaves or some such ****.
