Over the Rainbow

Something about this song that always gets me. Its just so relaxing and soothing for me. I have seen several renditions of it. This is a high school choir doing it a cappella due to the virus shut down.

You are not alone. My mother would sing it in times of her personal stress as an example. A person may have no personal awareness stress has built up or is building.
A substantial percentage of the population take meds to deal with where it can lead to.

I have been tasked with attempting do reduce the stress level of one of our older daughters. She is quite a distance away. They have their business up for sale and think this virus issue will reduce chances of a sale this spring in all likelihood.

She is far too busy trying to decide on almost day to day changes. To meet the new constant changes with the business. Driven by government edicts and peoples concern over this virus issue. I hope it is working as I notice she seems to be cooling off a little in the last few communications.

Thumbs up

This is nice .

It reminds me of the Musicians strike in 1942, lots and lots of long forgotten records were recorded a cappella

I love it when a singer has the stuff to sing acapella. I'll have my #2 daughter sing amazing grace at my memorial a cappella. Love it.

Here is another one. Not a cappella but a moving song none the less performed by a man with a lovely voice well suited for this piece.

https://youtu.be/JhtWfag4I-s

I have noticed that there are certain songs that have a calming affect on me. Some due to their content alone and others due to a personal link. Rain drops keep falling on my head is a song that I always sung as a child. Every now and then I will find it on you tube and I can literally feel my self relax as I hear it.

Same for my pets. One of my cats is very very loving. She will come up to you, crawl on my shoulder, start purring and nuzzling my ear and just fall a sleep. If you are a cat person you will know how that feels.

Same for one of my dogs. Very co-dependent. He will sit by me on the couch, put his head on my lap and a paw on my hand and just let out a big sigh and go to sleep.

Best stress relief in the world as far as I am concerned.

Here is another version of over the rain bow but on a train with passengers. Make me cry every time I hear it.

Thumbs up Finding Peace

Yep ;

Music is a window to your soul .

Children & pets too .

My little rescue dogs love to come sleep near wherever I'm working or climb up on my lap in my recliner....

My great grand son often comes over to just sit near me and often falls asleep leaning against me .

Speaking of changing the tune, the OP vid arrangement is straight up borrowed from the late great IZ, and I applaud the borrowing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1bFr2SWP1I

Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole was great in more ways than one. Dude was gigantically obese. But damn, he could sing and somehow those big hands played ukelele just fine.

Upon listening further, the rendition on the train sure sounds like IZ's version as well. Not surprising, it's an historically good arrangement. The song is pretty much his at this point. RIP.

When I was about 12 I discovered if I was feeling a little blue if I started whistling a tune I would feel better.

I try to remember to do that still.

Original lyric was "somewhere on the other side of the rainbow". The first two notes in the vocal are an octave leap. If I'm not mistaken that was the first time ever done in recorded pop music. David Bowie copped that for the chrous in Starman.
