Found out I have Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo

I was out at my storage unit trying to get under my 3.5 coupe to look at something. It is very close quarters and I was quite contorted. After squeezing in and out a few times I became quite nauseous. Then I vomited. I waited a bit until I felt better and went back to work. Same thing except more severe. I quit for the day, went home and did some research. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo describes my symptoms perfectly. Laying on my back turning my head in close quarters. A few mos ago I changed the oil on my 4x4 pickup and the same thing happened except no vomiting. There is plenty of room under it. I guess getting older.

Fix Benign Positional Vertigo

Look up Epley Exercise. Should cause vertigo with either head turned right or left. 2-3 reps of exercise to side that causes symptoms should fix the problem for many years. If still with vertigo after exercise- see ENT MD.

Two other possibilities, a pinched nerve in the neck can cause this problem OR wax build up in the ear canal. Most urgent care clinics can flush out the ear wax using a water irrigation system. A pinched nerve in the neck can be addressed by a knowledgeable chiropractor.

Chiropractors trained in NUCCA technique are especially good in the neck area of the body:

You want to get on this problem immediately; you don't want to have this happen while you are driving, standing or walking. You could have a car accident or if standing or walking actually fall possibly breaking your hip, knee or ankle.

Thanks for the thoughts. Doesn't happen when in bed on my back no matter how much I turn my head. I think concentrating and moving head/arms and moving on back in tight quarters is what triggers it.(like working under a car). I worked about 1-2hrs before it came on then second episode was much sooner. More ammunition for a lift in my new shop. Good thing this happened after I was retired. You would not believe some of the places I had to work. I have a physical in a few mos-I will bring it up.

I'm not a doctor; that said I've experienced this type of issues several times and learned how to get it fixed in rapid fashion.

My father had the same issues and he told me one time the chiropractor took his head and literally beat it hard against the table. VOILA! everything returned to normal!!

There are crystals in your inner ear which can get moved out of place. The ear docs know how to move your head around to let them back into their proper place. My Mrs. had this done after falling down the stairs and hitting her head. l dunno if it applies to you or not.

Listening to VERY loud rock music for hours on end can also screw up your balance resulting in vertigo.

One recent rock concert I attended; the guy seated in front of me was wearing the same ear protection that is used at shooting ranges. I spent the entire concert with my fingers in my ears and I like my music loud just not that LOUD!

See a doctor. Don't depend on a bunch of nitwits on the web to diagnose your ear problem. Sometimes an acute hearing/balance problem can lead to something much more serious. Have it properly checked out.

if they wear a white jacket, they know enough to diagnose your problems.

yup Epley maneuver cured me. funny thing though is if you keep reading about it what happens is the little crystal - if that is what caused yours - (vertigo just means dizzy -lots of things can cause it) gets lodge in the one of the 3 tubes. those tubes send signals to your muscles around your eyes to keep your eyes in check with your head. when one of those tubes give a weird signal to the eyes the muscles contract and cause the eye to spasm out causing the dizziness.

kind a cool...……...
