Guess I won't ever use Pelican Parts for parts again

I have never ordered Pelican Parts products before because everyone else is generally cheaper or has free shipping, though I do occasionally enjoy this forum. I finally broke down and ordered some parts because they had them all and it would have been easier to just use one place, even though I paid for shipping. It took quite a while to get a part in and rather than shipping everything else so the job could be mostly done, they waited. Well, today the parts arrive and one of them is wrong. I call in to let them know and now they're going to take EVEN LONGER to get my parts here. Just because they ****ed up, they're shipping my replacement part as slow as humanly possible and it's going to be December 2nd....two more weeks of having to borrow a vehicle to get mine back on the road because of their poor customer service. I will never ever make the mistake of using them for parts again. *rant over*

Hmm I never had a problem. I’ve ordered $1000s of parts over the years with reliable results. I like them because they got the parts and since I’m close to Los Angeles I can get the parts the next day. And also back in the day Phil would Go way out of his way to help me out find Stuff.

I have ordered various parts as well over the years. Never had any issues.

I have as well, and have always gotten the right part. Sorry you had trouble. Perhaps a phone call to the manager might get you quicker service especially on the replacement part.

If Pelican Parts is financing this forum, how come they are not jumping on this to address it?

Let's dissect this post a bit, issue by issue:

Have you priced shipping? Like actually weighed your products, plugged in the dimensions of the package and insurance value? Shipping is expensive. Especially since COVID. Companies offering "Free" shipping are either padding their prices to make up for it, or they're taking a BIG loss with current freight costs.

Pelican shows whether a part is in stock or whether it has a lead time on their website. If it shows the part is "in stock", but is determined to be out of stock, they send you an email asking what you want to do. If you ordered apart that had a lead-time, that was your issue, not theirs. Orders are typically shipped complete. See the freight cost issue above. You have the option to cancel the line-item holding up the show and ordering it separately if you want the rest of your parts sooner.

Was the part wrong because you ordered the wrong part? Was it labelled wrong? Did they just ship the wrong thing entirely, including the labelling? If it was a special-order part, it's possible that Pelican wasn't the F-up.

The delay would be due to a re-order of a part with a lead-time, and shipping via your slow shipping method. If you have a car down that you need urgently, you find a source with the part *IN STOCK* and have it shipped in an expedited manner. Choosing the slowest/cheapest shipping method then *****ing because it's slow is your hangup.

It sounds to me like part of the problem in this transaction is the customer. Contrary to the old saying, the customer is NOT always right. Vote with your feet and credit card. If you don't like Pelican Parts, use one of their competitors.

Over the last 20 years I've probably given Pelican Parts an easy $10K of my money for my own cars and others I maintain for other people. I've had a couple of minor hiccups, but they have always been handled well with nothing more than a quick phonecall and a reference to my order number. I do use their competitors for parts as well, but to date I've had the best service with Pelican Parts, even after their buyout by ECS Tuning (who I refuse to do business with after multiple problems).

Nobody is perfect, not the customer, not the company, not the delivery agency. Sometimes a phone call or an email can help more than anything else tho.
