Well I found out how far I can go on a charge. Decided to go to the hardware store on it today even thought the battery was getting low. The BMS cut it out going up the hill into town. I waited a minute, turned off the lights to save power and went slow to the store. Cut out again for good on the way back and had to push the bike up a long hill. I had to make the "walk of shame" back home. It's still charging after 5 hrs.

Chinese Carburetor success story

The lawn mower I found at the dump would only run for a few seconds then stop. Decided to replace the carb. Looked on Amazon and bought one with good reviews for $16. Installed it and it runs perfect. Also bought a new carb for my weed eater. Same success. Used to be Chinese carbs were trash. I guess they are better now.

Post Chinesium

I'm wondering why you didn't take the old carby apart and clean it.....

I bet the valves need adjusting too .

Chinese carbys, like so much else manufactured there are always a hit or miss thing .

Many times that needle needs replacement. And I just went through that and first off the needle for that Mikuni was almost impossible to find and then the cost was as much as a carb ( good deal NOS on ebay in Original box.), some parts are just nuts to buy.

Post Carby 'Fun' (?)

Okay, I gotcha .

It's a rare thing I can't make some 50 + year old carby work, it's been a long time since I encountered any worn needles .

SUDCO in So. Cal. often can get obscure Mikuni (and other) parts .

I have some new Chinesium carbys that had glaring casting defects right out of the box, I don't care if it's cheap if the thing isn't any good .

Thanks. I checked their catalog, couldn't find it. They want $ for the catalog but you can just download the pdf. Are they nuts?

This is not street, a commercial/industrial Subaru Robin circa 2000.

My notes from back then include :

Robin Subaru carburetor part number 266-62302-20
Supersedes 266-62302-00, 266-62302-10

224-62312-18 NEEDLE VALVE AY

This Item is No Longer Available. 2246231208 has been superseded to 2246231218.

I just did a quick search and you still need to hand over at least >$50 to get one delivered and many place are >60 plus ship.

I recall a possible briggs part cross reference but that was equally unobtainable. There are very inexpensive Chinese knock offs available and I considered buying one and using the needle from it but IIRC it was not a definite match part, but supposedly their carb flowed fluids like the part they were replacing.

I was happy to get my exact factory original in sealed box.

I would buy a needle now for the other one if it was cheap and available and have a good spare.

Post Vintage Carby Parts

Okay, I get you .

Most older Mikuni and Kei-Hin carby's have their model number faintly stamped into the mounting flange, once you discern that (it's totally different from the vehicle maker's part #) you're off and running .

Some Chinesium carbs are direct copies and good for sourcing repair parts as well as gaskets & so on very cheaply .

For whatever reason it seems it is common for the carbs in current equipment to have a short lifespan. For $16 and very good reviews not worth my time to fiddle with it. It truly starts on the first pull every time. Plus it is not a smog carb like the original.
Nate: I still plan on posting some picks of the "moped"-it's more of a small electric motorcycle now. Been busy with life events but trying to get ahead. it's rained so much here I have only ridden it a few times so far this year.

The wait is over-finally a picture. On a humorous note-my store bought lawn mower pooped out already and I switched over to the dump find one.

Thumbs up

looks nice to me .

My local junkyard is where they drop off gasoline powered mowers etc. often they'll have a fairly recent HONDA item .

So far I have resisted asking or even looking closely at anyof them but I'm sure you'll find something useful soon .

I did not. Interesting someone would collect what was a low end moped sold at Mongomery Wards for a few hundred bucks. I would say it was just slightly better than walking.

Have not been to the transfer station for quite some time. It seems like I get a flat every time I go. Plus dragging home too much junk. It is very laid back-no one cares as long as you move when the loader pushes the pile back.
