Didn't know some Ford engines have spark plugs that break off

Helping an older friend with his F150

Ran across numerous comments about spark plugs breaking and not seating when replaced.

Seems they also require ' reaming ' of the carbon buildup in the head to reduce chance of breaking off next time and also causing plug not to fire properly.

https://www.aa1car.com/library/ford_broken_spark_plug_problem.htm#:~:text=Spray%20some%20WD%2D40%20or,over%2080%2C000%20miles%20on% 20them).

Sure is a weird looking spark plug.

5.4L ? Be patient and follow Fords procedure for removal of stuck plugs.

Many coil failures too, may want to replace them at the same time. Your call.

Recently did my 6.2L gas in an F250, two plugs per cylinder (16), 8 plug boots, 8 plug wires, 8 coils. $$$. Runs very well.

Also learned that most spark plugs now have a coating that supposedly negates the need to use anti-seize. Manufacturer states anti-seize should not be used. Supposedly can change spark plug heat characteristics and lead to stripped threads plus distortion of the tip.

Don’t forget about the ford 6 cylinder engines from the escape and explorer that dump coolant into the oil
