We lost a long time forum member a few days ago (Mike D)

This is very difficult and painful to even be bringing up, but his family wanted me to put the word out to let his online friends/acquaintances know that Mike D, of Tucson Arizona passed away on New Years day, 2023. I'm unsure how much info I'm supposed to share, or even what the protocol is for mentioning it. From my understanding of it, his death was caused by complications from a stroke.

His family will be having a Celebration of Life event for him at some point, but I don't have a specific date/time for that yet.

He truly was a great guy and a phenomenal mechanic, & loyal friend and giver of advice, and I'm lucky to be able to have called him a friend for the last 10 years. Some of you have known him longer than that, I'm sure.

I don't really know what else to say here, so I'll just leave it at that. Really I'm still in shock over how quickly and suddenly this happened. If there is anything any of you would like me to pass on to his family, I'll be happy to do so.

RIP Mike D.

Thanks for letting us know.

Edit - I dug this up online. Worked back from some emails he sent me awhile back for a part I sold to him.

Unhappy R.I.P. Mike D.

Sad .

This should be a wake up call to those who have a large 'someday' list ~ tomorrow is not promised so take the day off occasionally .

So sorry to read about Mike. Prayers for his family.

Nate is absolutely correct with his advice. Live and do those things you want to do within your means. My Army buddies that I keep in touch with are constantly writing that they don’t know how I have the energy and drive to do the things I do. First of all take care of yourself, secondly, go do things. Last Saturday I flew a Huey helicopter. It has been high on my bucket list for a long time and is now checked off. I will continue to check them off as long as possible.

Go live life while you still can!

Thumbs up

Some people forget that life is supposed to be enjoyed, not endured .

When I was with L.A.P.D. Air Support we still had several 1964 Bell 203/204's ....

What model Huey did you get to fly ? .

Not sure of the exact designation. I will look. It was a later one that was in Vietnam in 1969 and 70. We had an event for the unit that flew it in combat. It was shot down three times with a different pilot each time, but the same crew chief every time. I met all of them.

A friend of mine flew them in Vietnam and has flown this one. He said that this one is really strong, and the most accurate to the battlefield example that he has seen in the civilian world.
