UroLift procedure for BPH

Has anyone had this done and what was your satisfaction with it? Giving it consideration and my Urologist is recommending it. For those that don't know it treats BPH or enlarged prostate without surgery or meds like Flomax.

flomax can raise eyeball pressure. I stopped and take saw palmetto, for over 20 years, and happy with it.

I want to stop taking Flomax-hence the UroLift. Without Flomax it takes me 20 min to take a leak instead of 20 seconds.

I 've read about it, don't know anyone who's done it. In the summer of 2020, I underwent the greenlight laser reduction surgery. My leak taking had been much like you describe for a few years, saw palmetto had no effect on it anymore.

He told me it would be a couple of days before I really saw the change. The next morning I woke up and took a pee that startled me with a sudden rush of fluid. Absolutely amazing.

Now for the important details. Yes, I still get wood but I no longer ejaculate. They told me that would happen, some of the plumbing gets disrupted inside. Four years later, the flow is still good, but frequency is on the uptick. Still a vast improvement over where I had been. I hope I never really want to get it again. You never know when the roll of the dice might work out wrong on the wood issue.

Thanks for the input. The UroLift is not surgical so less risk of adverse reactions. Flomax helps one urinate but messes up sexual function. It softens your prostate and everything connected to it if you know what I mean. My Urologist prescribed Cialis Daily 5mg but I break them in half. The Flomax/Cialis combo is better than either one by itself. Still trying to work all this out. When I turned 59 my prostate blew up like a balloon.

I got the PAE which puts small glass beads in the vessels near the prostrate and starves it of blood so it shrinks. I got it done about five or six years ago and it still is working fine. The wood is available if stimulated with viagra. Very happy with mine.

I went with green light laser surgery because a good friend of mine five years older than I had it several years prior, and told me that he pisses like a racehorse and still got wood. It's still a big improvement though like I said, frequency is on the increase a bit. Nothing like what I had before though. The glass bead thing sounds interesting, I hadn't heard about that.

Also, for what it's worth, pain and discomfort after the surgery was almost nonexistent, sorta surprised me. I understand they use a quarter inch diameter tube to gain access for the surgical tools.

I was on tamsulosin a form of Flomax I gather for about a year, along with a small blue pill: finasteride.

I did a web search - one side effect of the latter medication was erectile dysfunction, sometimes irreversible. I was going to flush it but to avoid harming water supply anywhere I just put it in the trash.

Urologists are nuts for Flomax and its generics, and never concern themselves about the risks. But beware. Flomax affects the tissues in your eyes, and creates something called "floppy iris syndrome." When you require cataract surgery, be sure to tell your opthamalogist that you had this treatment, I don't think the effects reverse for many years after use.

I am taking the minimum dose and am pursuing alternative treatments. I will be talking to my Urologist soon. I have no cataract surgery in the future-I believe that's the risk factor.
