Fiery, deadly Cybertruck crash

Cybertruck crash in toney Piedmont CA, 3 of 4 passengers, all 2023 graduates of Piedmont high killed.

https://www.ktvu.com/news/3-die-1-injured-fiery-piedmont-cybertruck-crash

Holy crap. I should've known they would be fast, I did a web search, there are two models: fast and extremely fast.

The dual-motor Tesla Cybertruck does 0 to 60 in 3.8 to 3.9 seconds.

The tri-motor is faster. Kids should drive something slow for their first car.

Thank you Captain wonderful. The issue here was the incredibly hot fire that was not affected by the fire extinguishers of first responders.

The whole goddamn thing is a safety hazard. The windows will not break to remove people in crisis situations. Does it have anything resembling door knobs? On top of that the tri-motor does 0 to 60 in something like three seconds. Someone gave their 19 year old children this death trap and they no doubt thought it was pretty cool until it was way too hot.

It's a terrible shame. I got a fast bike early in my 20's and crashed shortly after. it was a miracle I survived. I had borrowed a friend's helmet before going for a ride. Still have scars from the Halo.
There are 100's of auto accidents every day but the EV crash get's the publicity. I think the technology is being pushed out too fast. There was a EV big rig crash on I 80 a while ago which closed the Interstate for 16 hrs as they tried to extinguish the fire.

I think that it's less the fact that it is an EV, and more the possibility that the vehicle in question is not extremely well-designed. Tesla is a fledging car company, comparatively speaking, and may have a long way to go before possessing the facilities and know-how to design a car as effectively as more-established and well-funded companies.

I think that's a lot of it. My take is that people are so enamored with the noiseless torque that they have thrown rationality to the wind. The SF Chronicle reported today that when police arrived, the Cybertruck was engulfed in flames twice the height of the vehicle.

Musk is alternately a genius and a moron. I somehow doubt he will be among those who actually land on Mars, alive, and establish home for the rest of their lives. Would be worse than being in prison by a large margin. Keeping people alive on Mars for an unspecified period may actually be possible. Then what?

Venus, surface temps 850°F is out. One of the moons of Saturn or Jupiter? Oh yeah, that'll work.

Hopes are high for life on Jupiter moon Europa, -260 F at the equator, less elsewhere.

Even more promising they say is Saturn's moon Enceladus, -300 F. But it has more of the possible building blocks of life. Speculation is that both have liquid underground oceans, that tidal forces create enough heat to keep them liquid.

At some point reality will come into play even for the world's richest man. I am afraid the hard truth is that we know of one celestial body that can support human life. And we are beating up and polluting that one precious planet in the vain pursuit of finding another celestial body to call home.

It's a strange one. The Tesla auto is a halfway decent looking car, not my favorite but not hideous. The cyber truck is just weird.

All Tesla have a switch you push to unlatch the door. But if the power fails all Tesla have a normal door handle under the arm rest.

When you buy one the first thing they show you is the emergency release.

But when you first get one there is a lot to learn about the operation so details like the door handles are easy to forget.
