It's been a long time...

Hello fellow Mercedes enthusiasts!

It's been years since I've checked the forum and decided to login last night. I spent a few hours looking over old posts and reliving some stressful repairs and some really memorable experiences.

I'm wondering how many of my old friends are still active here. If you see this thread, let me know you're still kicking!

I'm still around. Still trying to get my wagon looking as good as yours.

I swapped in a OM603 and just bought a 716.6 6 speed manual in Italy to put in it.

Good to see you Chad, great memories from your get togethers over the years! Im in a w212 e550 these days and love it. We also moved down to the beach a few years back but still have our Philly place rented out. These days the forum is mostly political banter, but plenty of good info from archived posts.

Hi Chad,

Good to hear from you. Attended one of your gatherings, definitely a good time.

Thanks!

Man, I miss those gatherings. They were a highlight to my summers.

I miss the Benzfests too, but with two kids in college my free time is little compared to back then. I can't even imagine being able to maintain an old Benz these days, let alone the multiple ones I used to have. I'm loving my Jeep though and it fits better with my love of camping and outdoors.

I started a catering company about three years ago with a few friends and it's really starting to take off now. I still do glass art, woodworking, and metalworking, but the jobs don't come in like they used too.

My time as a scoutmaster is done now too, and my son got his Eagle rank which really helped with college scholarships.

I still poke in now and again, other than my 280SE I'm out of the old Mercedes world for now. I just don't have the time I used to or the desire to work on old cars. I did mostly restore an SL500 a couple years ago which was fun.

I started poking around this forum when I was 15, I'm turning 40 this year!

I showed up here in 2001, when I was thinking about buying a w126 560SEL. Never did buy one...

EDIT - just did some research and found out that I showed up here in June 2000...
