Talking My first MB

I am about to purchase my first MB this week. Currently have a down payment holding it. I spent several nights contemplating the purchase. After a lot of home work and negioating the price down to meet my budget....I have done it! The car is super clean and a one owner. After reading the many threads on various things to watch out for...I can be sure all will be fine. I am a new member of the forum and look to many years of sharing my ideas and getting tips from all the MB enthusiasts. The 1987 420 SEL will be quite a change from my 1980 volvo 240GL. Wish me luch and stay tuned for a picture when I take delivery....

Old is such a relative term John .

Welcome. I see you're from the Sacramento area, there are several regular posters at this site from your neck of the woods. I think you'll enjoy the difference in both size and comfort over the Volvo, and definitely the power difference . It may take a bit to get used to parking a 20 foot land yacht, but you'll get the hang of it.

As John said, grab a pot and start reading through all the posts you can find about the W126 and M116 combination. If you have any DIY skills, or ambitions, these cars are well suited to home maintenance (although not as well suited as the older models). If you have any questions that come up and haven't been covered to death, you'll get answers...fast.

Cool

Congrats on the new car!! I know your feelings; I'm about a month into my first Benz, and have been loving every minute of it.
