2002 MBCA national elections

1. Hey did youall get your ballets for the 2002 MBCA national elections?

2. I’ve never voted and been a member for about 7 years now, ether don’t know any of them or don’t have time and not really bothered.

3. But this time I happen to look through the ballet for the “Director At Large”: as a fellow hardcore DIY tech I’ve always been a George Murphy fan. I heard of his name associated with Mercedes-Benz since I could remember.

4. But hey who is this guy Greg Calabro; he sounds like he wants to clean house, and the idea of a monthly Star sounds good too. Oh and we got the same type of writing style.

5. And the debate begins…

Thai GI sends…

I don't know any of these guys and as a consequence won't vote. I don't know if I'll renew my membership even. We had a car show ($49 fundraising event), and a bunch of drive here drive there do brunch events. Not much else...

I met most of these guys at Starfest, and they generally seem like good folks (although Brian Gunning hasn't returned my call, and didn't attend Starfest) and I credit them for a solid event (could've been better in terms of hospitality services, though). Greg was out there working his butt off for the entire event, but did come across as a bit cynical. Nice 2.3-16, though; needs to lighten up

I guess he got on my less-favorable side when he told me how he wasn't a real track event fan, and actually passed on buying a Porsche because the owners were such track addicts ("Track Rats" in my terminology, y'know like Tackman, Hendy & Babinski... )

I sent my ballot in as soon as I received it............. straight to the trash!
I get so tired of the political finger pointing that I have often considered not renewing. I try to ignore the politics and enjoy our local gatherings.

If you are a member and don't vote, don't complain later about the "politics" or policies of the organization. For most members of any national organization, beyond the publication (i.e., The Star), the real benefit is the local people and events. Get involve locally and support the common good represented by MBCA.
