Since I had a freakin' hard time getting info on how to remove the front bumper on a w126 chassis, I am going to write down how to remove it from my own experience. Hopefully, in the future when someone needs this info.. they have it.
At first glance, I thought it would be easy to remove the 4 nuts(13mm) on each of the shock absorbers on the bumper(there are 2 shock absorbers). After doing so, you remove one nut(17mm) on each corner of the bumper. While trying to do this... I encountered a problem. 2 nuts on one of the absorbers would not budge. I couldn't take them off. So... I had a plan B.
Plan B was much easier than what I was trying to do at first.
There are 3 bolts that hold the entire shock absorber. The easiest way to get them off is by lifting the hood. Once you open the hood, and take a look down you will see one nut(17mm) visible on each side. Unscrew the 2 nuts. After doing this.. go under the bumper and unscrew the remaining 2 on each side. You will only need one tool in doing this entire process... a 17mm socket. Then once you took the 6 nuts off the absorbers... go back to the corner of the bumper and remove the 18mm nut on each corner. Once these are off... Just simply slide the entire bumper assembly off.
If I would have known this... it would have saved me TONS of time and scrapes and banged up finger nails.
