Unhappy

First John Entwistle's death, now this...true or not, this will seriously tarnish his reputation...

His comments about going to one site once in research makes sense, though...if that's true...

We'll see, eh?

According to teh article, he was there to research how sites did things, I would guess to provide a further basis of arguement for his website (which apparently criticizes cihld porn very strongly)...if I remember right, that's about what it said

In his own words.

"It's sympathy not tears people need when they're in the front page sad news.."

I think Winonna Ryder was reseaching a movie about shoplifting too.

I think they have rounded up many other people in England for a similar thing. I wonder how they were able to search him out? This kind of power scares me. If he was stalking the grammar schools that's one thing, but if he was sitting alone in his castle downloading stuff off the web that is another.

From what (little) I heard, I think they were able to track all the IP addresses going to that site, and his happened to be one of them...

the who rocks!

as i understand it in the uk you are guilty until proven innocent if charges are brought against you. sofar i understand no charges have been brought against mr townshend. roger daltry has come out in support of his mate.

I heard there are a lot of government people and cops that were found out like Pete Townsend.

I've loved their music for years, including some of Pete's solo stuff. If the story's true, that's pretty sad. Just shows what the "natural" progression of sex and drugs and rock-'n-roll (and who knows what else) leads to.

I think him guilty if he admitted to doing "research" and via credit card number, reasonable doubt about his innocence is difficult to conceive, i mean, those fetish sites are not easy to find, really secretive and underground, unlike the usual junk email featuring "Myles Long does every bimbo on the planet" type garden-variety crap, so i beleive pete's defence seems based on "oops, curiosity and research has brought to this..." and is a bit hard to accept with grace and sympathy.

i worry about others who use one's computer and say your kids or relatives/friend want some free games or soemthing but the site has these properties of pumping your computer full of porn links, they end up on your cache, so assessment of guilt is hard to attribute when i go to a site expecting one thing and get invaded by another. Imagine if you have a teenage son who in researching the latest "warcraft" game gets a picture of a blond muff suddenly light up the screen...I understand why a young male would follow the link, its a temptation. and i would find it hard to blame him, only advise them not to follow the link as relationships with girlfriends are a lot more work than looking at images on a computer, and the images tend to replace the real thing.

the shame that townsend must feel must be immense, it taints his artistic accomplishments, his family must be horrified.

well, I get a lot of spam (looking for a fire wall now) advertising POTENTIALLY illegal sites (don't know for sure, don't go there) claiming they are responding to my requests. Now, If my name is on some *(&%*&%$# list, how do I prove I'm innocent?

On top of this sometime in 1998 my ex-wife's credit card started receiving charges from a porn site claimig I ordered some pictures (luckily, that was a legal site). Since I have never purchased anything over the net with a credit card, I disputed the charges, persuaded my wife I was innocent (a cop from the credit card fraud unit told her I probably did it!) and that was it.

Now, combine the first and second. If that was an illegal site, what in heck could I do?

that sort of sale practices makes me mad, but it shows you that internet is still like a jungle.

I'm glad I bought my computer brand new. I don't go to those sites so I've never been sacked with porn spam.

The most email I get in a day is from the Shop Forum.

You don't have to go to porn sites to get this spam e-mail. We think it started with my wife going to chatrooms about epilepsy, and me buying her PJ's from Victoria Secrets (relax, it was just normal cotton PJ's-our son is two and begins to look with interest when my wife is.. err, hm, never mind, )

Just got a new one today saying "thank you for joining the Adultclub, Inc." I didn't do any such thing. Does anyone knows how to get rid of that trash coming in my e-mail? I can find porn on my own if I ever want to, thank you very much

This was a HUGE blow to me. The Who is my favorite band of all time (see previous posts). I've seen them countless times over the years and when I heard this about Pete, I was absolutely shocked. This must be the continuation of The Who's downward spiral. First the Ox dies then this big issue with Pete. Wonder what ol' Roger is thinking.....

Aside from that, I saw them twice in 2002 and they were still sounding quite good. A bassist by the name of Pino Palladino filled in for Entwistle and Pete Townshend's brother, Simon played backup guitar.

I think I've seen The Who at least a dozen times and not once was I ever disappointed by one of their shows, unlike many "now elderly" rock bands.

Let's hope maybe, just MAYBE Mr. Townshend is innocent....
