Another reason to be Libertarian...
Excerpted from boorz.com
IDIOT REPUBLICANS I’m talking about Georgia Republicans. It took them 100 years to capture the Governor’s office in the state, and now that they’ve reached that milestone, they’ve decided that the best way to keep it is to act just like the Democrats who held that office before them. First of all .. the new Republican Governor, Sonny Perdue, announces that he is going to raise various taxes to meet some budget shortfalls. Man, the Democrats must have been laughing their rear ends off when they heard that one. There’s Sonny Perdue .. throwing money at various social programs while raising taxes. Nice move. The Georgia budget has doubled since 1990. Doubled in just over 10 years. Total revenues have also doubled. The Cato Institute has studied the Georgia budget and has determined that if state spending had only increased at the rate of inflation Georgia would now have almost a $2 billion surplus. Stephen Moore, the president of The Club for Growth, points out some shortcomings in Perdue’s first months … Absolutely nothing put forward on the issue of school choice and vouchers. No measures to limit spending and tax increases. No suggestions for requiring a super-majority vote on tax increases. No suggestion on allowing the taxpayers to actually have a say in tax increases., No suggestions for getting rid of government spending programs. Oh those Republicans … they sure talk a good game, but apparently it’s just that … talk. On another side of the issue... PROBING QUESTIONING Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue was a guest on an Atlanta urban talk radio show yesterday. The first two questions: Are you a racist? Are you a member of the KKK? Nothing about taxes or economic growth or ANYTHING that matters… just get right out there and play that race card from the get-go. ?????????? Very disappointing. Can't say that I'm surprised, but...disappointing. Mike

this is exactly why I try my best to not bother with politics. too much trouble.
but when it comes down to it. I don't vote democrat, republican, etc etc. I just vote for those that I feel would be good, regardless of their political party. If they are republican and I feel hey will do the job well I vote for them, same goes for if they are democrat. Alon

Another element of your post illustrates another big problem...You only mentioned TWO partires...Democrats vs. Republicans. There are MORE THAN TWO PARTIES! Often a "3rd party" candidate is by far the best choice, so explore your voting options! Mike

mike I do agree with you on everything you have pointed out.
And yes I do know there are more than two parties... for me I dont vote based on any party, I vote on who is best suited for the job, regardless of their party affiliation. for me though, politics doesn't interest me which is why I try to not bother with them, but as you said there is no avoiding it, one way or the other. perhaps one day I will take it more seriously, but in all my years so far, I havent found one thing that a politician has done that has affected my way of life in any way. That will probably change one day. I do my duty and vote, and I do my research ont he things I think are going to be good for the benefit of all. if a democrat, libertarian, or republican or any other party memebr is right for the job they will get my vote. Alon
