New WTC Design

Hi

What does everyone think of the new design?

I personally wish that they could have re-created the old buildings. I think that would have been magical.

I think the new building looks great but it doesn't have the look of the old towers. I like there 'wedge' shape. They looked very powerful.

I know everyone has probably already seen all the pictures, but here's a link anyway: http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/02/27/wtc.architect/index.html

all the best,

I like the new design. The pics make the building appear to mimic the Statue of Liberty. I like the fact that much of the area left by the WTC towers was left visible. It allows reuse of the property without covering up what had fallen.

It also seems to set a precedence of how skyscrapers will be constructed for the new millenium.

Whatever plan was chosen, I am glad that there is an active effort to rebuild the NYC skyline. It is a testament to NYC and American resolve!

If the real thing looks as good as those renderings, it'll be awesome. Even I would have to take a visit there just to see the finished product. It looks gorgeous.

I can not wait to visit the completed project. The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur will be exceeded by a sizeable margin.

I think it's a gorgeous design as well..and the fact that it's much taller than the old towers, and taller than anything else right now, is a wonderful F*** YOU to the terrorists. I've said all along that the new structure, whatever it ended up being, MUST be at least as tall and imposing as the old ones.

I also like the historical significance of the number 1776 (the proposed height, in feet).

The rebuilding issue is a controversial one, so I hope it actually gets built in a manner very close to his design, and reasonably soon.

Mike
