Please wear saftey glass tight to your face

I just wanted to post on something I now know is very important. I know as I'm sure all of us do wearing saftey glasses is a must when things could fall on you. But make sure they are tight to your face please and they are the big dorky kind. I made the mistake of leaving my normal glasses in the tool chest where they got scratched badly. SO when I was grinding out my piolot bearing I wore my oakleys (eye jakets they are huge) but with my head tilted bake and the glasses not so tight I manged to get some metal in my eye. I spent the next evening at the eye doctors where they picked it out of my eye followed by a nice scraping of rust.
So I ask you to make sure your glasses or googles are nice and tight

Ouch.

Thanks for the safety tip. I once was underneath the car, goggles on the shelf. Lost my grip on my torque wrench + socket, and it hit me in the face. Missed my right eye by half an inch.

Goggles went back on.

p.s. one thing i really hate about the dorky goggles is that they fog up real easy. Anyone know how to deal with this?

Very good tip!

I should get some for working on the MBs...if nothing else, getting that crusty oil buildup in your eyeballs isn't fun when working underneath!

I might even buy a set of those mechanics gloves too. People are beginning to wonder why my hands could look so beat up if my job is keying on a laptop all day!

My outdoor safety goggles are tinted, and I DO wear them when out in the yard. The weed-eater can throw some hefty debris towards your face and at high velocities!

Finally a usefull thread shows up

I strongly recommend to everybody to wear safety shoes also.

There are plenty things which really hurts when falling on you feet. Doesn't have to be a high impact wrench to make a high impact...

Kind regards
Eberhard

I've had that rusty eye ball scrapping before. Nothing like having someone drill on your eye ball with a dremmel tool

Same thing happened to me several years ago.Was wearing safety glasses when grinding some rust off an old 87 Gti. A tiny steel piece flew into my eye because the glasses were not snug against my face. I couldn't even see the sliver in the mirror, but a few hrs later it became visible as it started to rust. Unfortunately the eye repairs itself or grows over, covering the sliver. Had to go to the eye doctor, who froze the eye and scraped it out. Really couldn't feel much , but that scraping sound!Aaaah!

Fog

Howdy Anthony,
You can do what divers do to keep their masks from fogging. Smear spit on the inside of the lens
