The drunken rant thread

Well, I'm not really drunk, but I have been to the pub (1pint! - was driving), and thought that this should be a thread everyone can post to when they're drunk (and, it seems, sad and lonely :p). Might be amusing

N.B. rants here must be drunk, but passing comments may be sober (or drunk)

My rant concerns... bad service from staff. The other day, I went to a camera shop, determined to buy a particular £1,500 camera. I told the guy I was going to buy it and I wanted to know what was a good lens, with fairly good zoom.

Rather than recommend a nice lens he wanted to sell me, and it least show me it, and even on a cheapo camera fit it to a demo and let me try it out, he just points to a cabinet behind him and mumbles "we got all those". I couldn't even read the numbers on the labels! So I decided he didn't actually want to sell me anything at all, and I asked to speak to another member of staff (I said I'd spoken to another guy when I came in before. I hadn't.) This guy was a little more helpful, and put a little more effort into trying to sell me something.

And I blame it all on...British weather. It had been sunny, but that day was dreary and rainy,

Rant over, I pass the baton.

A girl

I aint drunk
I been talkin to a girl I been liking for a bit, but am too much of a lacky to actually look into things. So we're talking randomly one day, and she is like "My friend said I should go to the prom with you." I was damn near shocked. I have to be one of the most unosocial, uncomfortable person around the ladies, and she gives me a monster hint, as well as constantly asking me about the prom.
Anyhow, the weekend ends. I go to school, and ask her to the prom. She is caught off guard, and is like "Umm...I'll think about it, and talk to you later..." She has been talking to me alot now, but not about that subject. Also constantly saying we should "hang out more" So we continue to talk, one of my friends already asked her to the prom. But from what her friends say, she wants to go with me, but doesn't want hurt my friend who asked her first. From what I hear, she was like "I would definitely go with Kyle if he would have asked first." WTF. All I want is a damn straight answer. Yes or no. I can deal with it. Now we are constantly talkin, foolin around, doing the flirty stuff. The good thing is she has brought me out of my extremely antisocial/don't talk to people/rely on myself shell. I just want a straight answer. I might be goin out sometime with her on Friday or Saturday, if she gets her friends together, and I get mine. God, all she has to say is yes or no.

My rant

I had a hell of a time with mine. Thought maybe i had the wrong pads. Had use a large c-clamp on the caliper, carefully file the edge of the pad so it had a slight chamfer, swear alot, pry some more, swear some more, pound, hit pry, rant.....
They finally went together.
If/when you get em on, take a nice slow easy drive around the block and hit your brakes off and on. Sop and check how hot they're getting. Not too hot? Keep doing this for a couple miles. By then they should be seated/worn in enough. Mine still got a little warmer than usual for a couple days, but never warped the rotors.

Lying in bed late at night (a few beers earlier, but not drunk), I wonder (as I listen to traffic outside the house)...

...why the HELL do all owners of loud vehicles have night jobs or things to do in the middle of the freakin' night!!!???

Oh good, up 'til now I've just made dumb posts in other people's threads when I've been pissed. Now I've got a home to go to...

123c,

Not to hijack the serious discussion of drinking and posting (more on that later), but I've had good luck with brake pads/piston retraction using the following technique: Leave the pads in, pull the retaining pins, use a C clamp to push the pad and piston away from the rotor. You use the "ear" sticking out of pad that the retaining pin goes through as a point to c clamp the pad back.

Your's might not be like my 108 bodied car, but you might be able to use a C clamp on some part of the pad. I had to use two separate sizes of C clamp and had to clearance one a bit to get a good grip on the pad.

This turns it into a 30 minute job on an old MB.

Drinking--My question is: why does some beer give you a monster hangover headache and other beer doesn't. Hmmmm, this going to need some more research.....

Currently in process. Cinco de Mayo. Corona Extra.

Also the anniversary date of my current employment. Six long, hard years. But I have to admit the steady employment has been good in these relatively hard times.

I remember many years ago watching a TV documentary on Korea, and how hard the typical Korean worker was willing to work. Time frame was probably in the 70's. They showed this girl who got up at 5:00 AM to catch the train into Seoul in order to work 10 hours somewhere under fairly intense productivity supervision. Then she caught the train back and had only a few hours to do things on her own. I can remember thinking to myself "that poor third-world girl".

Now I am working like that person. Except I get up at 4:00 AM.
