Thumbs up Coach Joe Gibbs to return to the Redskins?

I'm a life-long Dallas fan (US side of our family is from Texas) and even I'm excited by this!

Here's the article

I just wonder what kind of control he'd have over the team with a control freak like owner Daniel Snyder.

That would be a big morale booster for the Skins, but would it really work? Joe Gibbs has been in NASCAR for 10 yeras or so.

Can't be that much worse than the current situation.

I think the money would be hard to turn down for Joe Gibbs. An offer he probably could not refuse.

Think there might be an ownership stake for him?

I remember that he had put together a consortium to try and buy the team back when Snyder eventually got it. I wonder how effective it'll be. It's definitely a trendy thing to do (bringing back Vermeil then Parcells and now Gibbs).

Looks like the same deal Steve Spurrier had: five years, 15 million bucks!

I think there's also a deal for part ownership in the team later on.

I think this is great!! Being a life-long Dallas fan it'll be great to see that classic rivalry back again. It wasn't that good for the last few years.

Ol' Joe Gibbs back in DC.....oh boy....

This will certainly be a boon to the 'skins fans out there. I am also a Dallas Cowboys fan from "back in the day" and it'll be good to have such a great coach at the helm. I myself almost hated to watch what ol' Steve Spurrier did to the Redskins though. I might not like the 'skins, but what he did to that team was ridiculous. Swapping out QB's all the time, the team chemistry was always in a state of upheaval with his erratic coaching decisions. I truly think Steve Spurrier underestimated what he had to do to win in the NFL. Now this is my opinion, but I think he got tired of getting his ass handed to him on a regular basis. He wasn't winning like he was in Florida and it would be too much work to make it work so he quit. That simple. It'll be a good day when the ol' rivalry will actually have some significance- it'll be a true battle. Parcells vs. Gibbs- man, I can't wait!!!

Speaking of coaching "come backs"

How about John Madden going back to coach the Raiders!!! Now THAT would be soething!!!! NFL football would be in a new heyday of retro coaches!!! Now only Dan Reeves needs to find his way back to Denver......

That would be fantastic! I wonder how he'd deal with the inflated salaries and egos of some of the players of today.

Joe Gibbs' record is third only to Vince Lombardi and John Maden.

As a Bronco fan

Noooo Dan Reeves! I'm perfectly happy with Shanahan thank you. That would be taking the retro coaching thing too far.

Joe Gibbs news conference was an hour long! He looked so happy. A guy in my office was besides himself.

You gotta think that Joe Gibbs still knows a thing or two about football. It seems like the old but successful coaches that have been recycled lately have done pretty well. I'll bet that the only problem would be Dan Snyder getting too impatient with the rebuilding process.

Art Monk said it best: he said that though Gibbs is older and has to deal with a different player and NFL, one thing that always made him a successful and great coach is his character, which doesn't change.

Oh yeah, GO DALLAS!!

Just feeling a little guilty being a Dallas fan....
