96 geo metro lighting problem can anyone help?
I have a 96 geo metro with some sort of problem with the headlights.
here is what happens, with these cars when you release the emergency brake the headlights come on, which supposed to happen, however if you turn on the headlights using the switch they will turn off. and the only way to get highbeams is to pull the light switch towards you. The fuses seem to be fine and you can hear the relays click when turning the switch so i've ruled out bad relays and a faulty switch. any ideas possibly a connector somewhere? Thanks alot Jeff |

Release emergency brake...lights come on...hmmmm
Sounds like a Lucas system! :p Anyway, it sounds much like a ground connection has either gotten corroded or loose. One way to tell is have a friend get in the car and try all of the light functions (beams, parking, turn signals hazards, etc. and look for any that don't function properly. Look for a situation when one light in the pair is dimmer than the other. Usually, that is the culprit that has lost it's ground connection.

That car is a death trap. Get an old Benz for the same money.
