I am a second generartion painter and we prefer Benjamin Moore. We also likethe Sherwin Williams brand. The cost difference isn't as huge as people think. It all boils down to sheen level and if you are concerned with washability. If you have little kids washability is a concern you could use Benjamin Moore Super Spec eggshell finish but I would personally advise Aquavelvet product line. If using Sherwin Williams you could use Promar 200 eggshell finish, they also have the Super Paint line and Duration. Ussually the Benny Moore Super Spec eggshell is what clients choose it isn't to expensive and last pretty long. Sprayers waste as much as 30% more paint than brushing and rolling and that is a fact that any paint store will tell you. Spraying is much cheaper for labor than the other method. A friend of mine found a guy who sprayed his Aluminum siding it was a third of the cost including my price and a few competitors. One year later the paint is already failing and chalking. I was the only one who told him primer and two coats as the siding had never been power washed and repainted since the house was built.

Thank you. This is quite helpful. I was leaning to the Aquavelvet and you've pushed me in that direction.

Our job calls for 2 coats, rolled.

Check out Consumer Report. They often have articles on paints. Your local library has back copies.

Consumer Reports isn't something I would swear by. A few years ago they Rarated Sherwin Williams latex stain no. 1 then all of a sudden it was like no. 10. Ask the people who work with the stuff daily.

We used BEHR on the walls that are painted, it has held up well for 5 years now...Over 1/2 of our home is done in Venusian plaster though...lots of work!!

Sorry for the poor quality pics..........All pics are of walls are done in Venusian plaster.....Not very common, but kinda neat.....I has a very smooth polished texture to it..........
