BMW 2002 vs. 320i (E21)
Opps! This was suppose to be a reply to: JMela
bmw 2002 ownership = heresy? I bought a brand new 2002 in 73 and loved it! I traded it in on a new 320i in 1980 and was very pleased with the changes. Drove it until I wore out the suspension, seats, etc. The car had 359,000 miles on it and I didn't put one penny into the engine! Since then, I've retored a 72 2002 and another 320i. For today's driving envirnonments, I'd recommend a 1980~83 320i. They are known as the forgotten BMW and I'm glad of it. It leaves some great deals to be had in the future. I bought a 1980 320iS this past year for $500 and it's in amazing shape. You can find them in very good shape from $700 ~ $1200. Here's the one I bought this past year. |

BMW Motorcycles...... forget about their cars and buy one of their motorcycles instead. The bikes are truly exceptional and superior to BMW automobiles which are something of an embarassment to the motorcycle division of BMW. I think they were building better bikes long before they got in involved with cars.

Hey '77 280E:
Liked your photo. Pure, classic BMW with those nice chunky bumpers. Query: How come it's riding so high in front? |

Chunky Bumpers
Hi bobboyer5,
Not sure why the front end appears to be riding so high in this picture ... Yes, those bumpers are chunkey. But, they do work! The car is a joy to drive. Over the years, I've logged approximately 500,000 miles in these cars. Getting this one for $500 makes it even more enjoyable. * There are a number of options for those who want to replace or modify the chunkey bumpers. Maybe some day? |
