What's a Buick GNX?
Seems kind of fast.
How much do they cost now? Or are they quite rare?

I know of one in CT with under 300 miles and all original dealer packageing, plastic coverd seats etc. It looked pretty cool but I was to busy looking at the 2 dozen 6.3, 6.9 and pullmans clustard around it!

I saw one many years ago with a plate 'GNXNIT'. Rear drum brake kinda suck for a car that fast!

I've never seen a GNX, or heard of it. I did see a GN at the QT the other day. They're really impressive. How do the last of the Hurst Olds copmpare to them?

My previous car....
was an 87 Buick Grnad National. A few bolt ons and it dynoed at 333 to the wheels. The GNX was one step up and like w126 said 547 of them were made. They were 276 hp vs. 245 for a stock GN. Ceramic impeller in the turbo, dual 2.5 inch exhaust unlike the cross over 2.25 exhaust on the GN, and most importantly, the rear suspension set up. 245/50/16 were on all four corners vs. 215/60/15 on the GN's. I miss my GN and should have kept it but maybe one will be in my future. For more info on these cars go to www.turbobuick.com. I could list a few things more but the there is a tonne of stuff on the web and the above site.
Here was my GN http://shaun.muc-central.com/gallery/GN Shaun

You Americans really have some very.. American cars.
This thing is just so... non-European, seems like a bizarre contraption. I could see myself liking it in a very un-Mercedes way. So very many American cars I don't know about....

One thing I remember most about those (when I saw one at a dealer lot when new) was that most auto insurance companies ran away from you screaming and flailing their arms if you showed up at their doorstep...

The Grand National is a great straight line car. The brakes are really bad

A friend of mine had an '85 Grand National. It was such a POS that he sued GM and won. They bought the car back from him after 3 turbos had melted during the warranty period. I knew another guy that bought two GNX's when they came out. He drove one and put the other in storage.
