Hotel Living Sucks

Anyone have to live in a hotel for more than a few days? Hotel living really stinks. I've been living in a hotel for 10 days now. Tomorrow I go home. There's nothing like being home, grilling over a real wood flame, watching TV in your underwear while sipping on your scotch, farting (yeah farting), picking your nose, watching Speedchannel. I can't wait to get back and ride my bike. Dang, work stinks.

I thought you were a full time house husband nowadays. What happened?
I agree, staying in hotels, even for a few nights is very unpleasant. It is so sterile. I can't imagine how so many people enjoy it so much. A tent and a campfire is a much better option for me.

I need to work a bit. I need some cash. This is nothing compared to full time child rearing!

I will switch places with you! I love hotel living. Basically I can be a slob (a bigger slob than at home, u know..) throw towels on the floor, etc. and when i come back, the maid has it taken care of.

Suprisingly i get a lot of paperwork done while in hotel rooms. I love cable and actually have time to enjoy it.

When I get bored, i go to the pool or hot tub (which is usually just me) and just chill.

I like a small and cozy hotel room. Its just me.

Are you staying in the hotel room yourself or do you have a roommate? That makes a big difference on the enjoyment of your hotel expereince.

Spent two weeks in a hotel in Batesville, MS (pop. 8000, or something).

THAT was fun!

Kuan, if all you did was stay in the room, then it's no wonder you went "stir crazy" since it would be the same thing if you just stayed in your bedroom all the time. When I'm on business travel, I check in with my personal assortment of snacks and beverages so that there's no mini bar tempation. I either check out the hotel gym if there's one for workouts or I ask the hotel staff for suggestions on jogging routes. Instead of room service, finding small restaurants in area is a good alternative to the beef, chicken and fish items on the rs menus . . . and I always look for hotels with in-room broadband.

Hotels - now that tax day is upon us it's a very vivid memory - spent 112 days (straight) last year in hotels in Jackson, MS and then on into 2/04 until I bought the house over here. I used to change hotels every 45 days or when everyone got to be to familiar. Did go platinum with two hotel chains and received a ton of FF miles

Hotel entertainment

Want some hotel entertainment? Go to the yellow pages and look under "Escorts"

Just kidding, use at your own risk

Aside from the grilling and bike riding, everything else sounds like exactly what one winds up doing when stuck in a hotel room while traveling for business.

Stayed in some nice little hotels in Europe and the Caribbean.

Best hotel I ever stayed in was in Mendoza, Argentina. Hotel Cervantes, I think. 25 years ago or so. Great staff. Excellent food and wine. After I'd stayed there a month or so and got used to the local rhythm of life, they kind of brought me within the fold, so to speak. I frequently went out with the owner's wife and daughter in a courteous, latin semi-formal friendship. I escorted the ladies. very old fashioned. I thought it was kind of cool back then and now I think it was awsome.

American hotels are uniform mediocrity. Uninteresting an mercifully easy to forget. Even high-quality places leave me feeling quite anonymous. That's probably what most Americans want. I like small Italian or Latin American hotels.
