Why, ... there could be anything buried in the sands of Iraq, a country the size of Kahlifoahnia.

OK, I'll bite. What, exactly, is RG being congratulated for?

I don't think he's congradulating me for finding facts, but more for not having my eyes closed and actually trying to find my own opinions out, instead of just "hearing things from the grapevine". I'm sick and tired of the majority of my friends, and the majority of the poeple on message boards constantly contradicting themselves without having any real basis for their own beleifs. It seems everyone is just jumping on whatever bandwagon they think will be most fun. I have no idea what i think politically, and for that reason I don't plan on voting this election. I'd rather not vote at all then vote misinformed, which in my belief 80% of the public is doing.

Tone of voice is somewhat difficult to divine through text, but to me it seems like sarcasm, due to the fact the buried MIG story has been around a while, and dculkin just now picked it up?

BTW, a buried fighter is not exactly useful is it? Not like it's going to be delivering a missile in "45 minutes"...more like a few years after they clean all the sand from the engine.

I think you meant to say RG just picked it up, not dculkin.

I don't see medmech's comment as sarcastic, but you might be right. I've tried to be sarcastic on this forum before, and it generally comes across wrong.

No doubt about it, there are plenty of people on both sides of the Iraq thing who have their minds made up and do not want to be confused with the facts.

Edit:

Having acknowledged that neither pro-war nor anti-war people have a monopoly on the truth, I would rather err on the side of no war. In other words, the presumption should be that we do not start wars unless we have no other choice. Bush/Cheney applied the opposite approach.

Well, if it was sarcasm then i suppose i should edit my last post, but i didn't see it that way. I don't think that the point is the fighter is ready to be used, to me the point is that they felt the need to hide the aircraft(why, i don't know, and i don't think anyone else does either), and also if they hid that plane underground, whats to say there isn't more detrimental objects hidden in the same sand? The shear fact that they felt the need to hide it raises many red flags in my mind.

I agree that buried jets raise all sorts of red flags. It is the sort of story that makes me wonder what else is hidden in Iraq and whether the things hidden by Saddam's people have been found by outside terrorist types who would not be in Iraq if we hadn't invaded.

Yes, sorry, I was referring to medmech's comment.

I agree hidden stuff needs to be a concern, especially now the country has all sorts of characters skulking about. But I think it's pretty ridiculous that some want to point to a buried MIG as justification for the invasion - since even the administration is not making the connection.

There was no sarcasm being directed at anyone, it was a tongue in cheek gesture with rg acknowledging that its a big desert and there is a very good possibility that other things are hidden there.

some people just don't want to acknowledge this undeniable truth. Whether it’s old news or not it’s a fact that should be brought up to remind people that there is a lot of stuff out there that can’t be seen from an air conditioned Land Cruiser window.

The sad thing is diggin those jets up were not front page headlines except on Fox News.
