I would purchase the Porter cable polisher(Perfectly safe for a novice to use.
Then polish with the SFX polishes....

You can then polish with a ,metal polish like Meguiars NXT...

Why not just wash with P21S Total Auto wash once. It will remove wax and also is safe for the paint so you can go straight to your next step. Wether it be claying, polishing or even paint touch up....
